Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Few fairly hefty discounts on Bell helmets, haven't checked sizes or styles - just happened to find the same model+size I have at the moment, along with some replacement pads: https://bellbikehelmets.co.uk/

Missed this when you first posted but a good read and looks like a great spot to take a bike! Chocolate sandwiches are a new one for me.
Something enjoyable about such a lightly packed bike too.

Re: Ultralightweight 2season sleeping bag?
I've had a couple of summer/race weight synthetic bags and they've been not been very warm or have been cut very snug. I've had PhD down bags in the past, I tried to save weight on those by skimping on length or width. That made for some warm, but uncomfortable nights. These days I mainly use a synt...

Should be there Saturday along with a few of the grass up the middle brigade.
There's a #coffeeoutside on Friday morning too if anyone's in the city early. Hosted by Keep Pedalling and Wizard Works, meeting Mayfield Park (near Piccadilly station) 8-9am.

Do the same principles apply regardless of terrain? I'm a rear-brake dragging nervous wreck when it comes to anything vaguely long or steep, regardless of terrain. I sometimes wonder why I even ride bikes beyond commuting ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: Brakes; mechanical or hydraulic?
I keep coming back to BB7 after stints with other mechanical brakes (Shimano cx something, spyres and about to go back from a set of klampers) and occasionally trying to find the motivation to learn how to setup hydros (there's an unfitted set of xtr brakes in the cellar...). They aren't the best br...

FS: Buffalo Windshirt, Big Agnes Zoom UL mat
Buffalo wind shirt Bought in November last year. Should have gone a size or two smaller, getting a bit sick of it flapping around. Has been worn for a handful of rides, mostly with full mudguards. Has just been through the washing machine with Grangers' version of tech wash. Size 44. Very blue. Full...

I'll pop those bits over as a GPX by email. Just need to run a few errands first.

Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?
After that I'd look at staying on route 70 through towards Kelsall (gravel detours available if required...). Other than the trying to turn right off Warrington Road (before Acton Bridge), it's quite a pleasant route and isn't too busy compared to the main roads you're on at the moment. Simon probab...

Or there's a slightly longer road route that runs by the United training ground:

Re: Anyone local to these areas able to review (sections of) my route pls?
I'll share these suggestions here in case anyone else is interested. The section along Route 6/Fallowfield Loop/TPT from Reddish through Chorlton makes sense. It's almost all tarmac and as long as you're not heading through on your own in the evening/late at night you should be fine (there's occasio...

Seat 61 is a good source of train info around Europe, their recommendation is to travel to Bari (Italy) and take the ferry:

They also collate requirements for bikes https://www.seat61.com/bike-by-train.htm#Italy

Can take a look over the weekend and make some suggestions, especially the run into Manchester and out to Wales. Ridden that area quite a bit over the last couple of years.
Will pm you later in the week for a GPX. Away from the computer for the next couple of days.

Re: Wanted: Ti Jones bar
Either, ideally both! Ti is 99.5% for looks  I'll probably end up getting a set of Al loops for one of the bikes I'm building but figured I'd ask as a set of the original, shimmed loops and a skinny 25.4mm stem would look nicer. Similarly I'd be curious to try the original cut version one of tw...
