Re: New lifestyle opportunity for someone?

There used to be the National Watersports Centre on Great Cumbrae. It was truly world class, staffed by excellent outdoor types. Sportscotland made the utterly bonkers decision to close the centre last summer. I don't have words to describe the numpties responsible. NO WAY!!! I spent many days ther...

What to do with a mussette?

I have accumulated a number of ‘freeby’ mussettes and wondering if they have any practical application outside the world of pro cycling? I can’t see myself carrying my packed lunch round my neck when they are much more sensible ways to carry stuff on a bike, so has anybody found a way of upcycling t...

Re: Cheap dropbar 1x12

I’m am told by Ratio that their kit will work with a SRAM Force 1 RD, although to go bigger than 42t will require a longer cage. So I’m trying to order the Garbaruk 12s kit; cassette & long cage, which in theory should be a reasonably priced way to get a clean drop bar 12s setup. Unfortunately t...

Re: What training app?

Xert. I don't anymore but its brilliant If it’s brilliant, why did you stop using it? I’ve been on it for 3 years and find it interesting but equally frustrating. If the execution was as good as the concept, it could be brilliant, however the algorithms don’t work for me, and the prescribed workout...

Re: who rides Ti ?

I’ve had two. Mostly out of curiosity. First was stolen before I had much riding on it. The replacement is OK, but nothing special. It’s no lighter than Alu, and I’ve not detected any magic ride quality. Even less to be gained in a FS bike, where alloy performs at least as good and better value. At ...

Re: My Arcteryx experience

Surprised that Arcteryx behaved like this; I’ve always had excellent back-up from them, far better than most brands, only matched by Asoss. Owned several breathable membrane boots and even before the membrane is compromised (inevitable sooner or later) Water always gets in somehow hiking or riding i...

Re: Ever built a no expense spared bike?

I would love to buy a package bike from Canyon, or some similar value option as that is definitely the best way to maximise bang for buck. But it just doesn't work for me, partly because my dimensions are not in the middle of the bell curve (so I don't fit the standard components specced - eg crank ...

Re: Similar to Exposure, but not... is there such a thing?

I would love to love USE - Made in Britain, innovative designs (beyond just the Exposure lights), aesthetically pleasing products, and people who respond to customer enquiries. It's just a shame that every item I have bought from them has let me down. Aero bars that refuse to stay in place, and then...

Still tempted, but leaving bookings to the last second.

Any idea how easy it will be to pick up food and accommodation along the way? Sampling the culinary delights is a big part of it for me, so if this is going to be challenging then I won’t bother.

Re: Tuscany Trail or Veneto Trail?

I believe Italy is now on the amber list for UK travel. Won’t be booking flights until the last minute to avoid disappointment. Not even fussed about doing it during the event window as there is no mass start anyway, and I don’t want a ‘goody bag’ that will go straight to landfill. So, as much as I ...

New wheels from Hunt. Just not the ones I ordered. Not even similar... but they did include a signed pre-despatch check sheet, so hopefully the arse who clearly didn't do their job can get a kicking. Muppets! Did make me think, if they can't get this right, what's the chances they will be doing any ...

On the other hand... Assos have been absolutely outstanding. I still have shorts from 20 years ago that are used every week (indoors now) and are still in decent condition. When I had a crash they repaired both the jersey and bib tights for free, even though they where over 2 years old. I recently b...

Might be selling my SRAM XX gears. Loads of life left in them as they were only used for two summers on my precious race bike from the olden days! Not been ridden since 2014 and stored inside.

Re: DeWidget Strapdeck

Can’t wait to try mine, but the project is not quite complete. A conventional harness, like my Wildcat, doesn’t work with a Lefty. This should, and only needs to hold a 5L, sub 1kg roll with my bivi & sleep bag/vest/booties. Will update once the build is done; hope to use it for the rescheduled ...

I am tempted, but not camping enough at the moment to justify it! The older I get, the more I like a nice bed in the evening...!
