No idea what the order is between Ian, Javi and Lee at the moment - it's going to be close!

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Liam's across the A82, Phil must be just coming up to the King's House.

After such a short stop last night Philip must be knackered. Doubt he can close the gap.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Liam and Philip must be pretty much riding together approaching the top of the Devil's Staircase. From the Spots it looks like Lee is about an hour behind with Ian a few minutes further back.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Looks like Liam stopped for about half an hour in Dornie, and is now about to start the Glen Lichd climb. There is maybe ~16 hours riding time left to the finish for Liam. If he doesn't stop I don't think anyone can catch him. If Javi/one of the other 3 in the chase group pulls an all nighter and Li...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

How different is the Fisherfield section? I.e. Dundonnel to Poolewe or possibly to the end of the Tollie path vs Dundonnel to Kinlochewe. I think the new section there is almost time neutral compared to the old route even though it is much shorter in distance. From what I've seen the Torridon chang...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Just been comparing the old Torridon section against the new one. I reckon the new one is ~ 2.5 hours faster based on Liam's time and mine from last year.

Alan's definitely made the route too easy now.

Maybe Salsa could be convinced to hand out pie tokens to the HT550 starters like they apparently do for the TD starters?

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

What's happened to Nik Kinloch?

Maybe he has just stopped for a very long lunch.

He's not going anything like as quickly as I expected knowing about his sub 24hr Capital Trail and the pace he was doing on the Cairngorms Loop.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Unfortunately it looks like Lee didn't double back from her off-route spot. From there to Lochinver only took 20 mins.

Compare that with Philip Addyman who took 46 mins to do it via the off road route, which fits in with my experience of that section.

Philip and Stuart are not far from the Hydro bothy now. Will they stop there for the night or press on into the dark?

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters

He may meet some traffic on the run into Tyndrum on Saturday!
Nah, no chance he'll stop before the finish now.

It will probably be a late one, but I hope there will be a good reception committee for him with all the racers lined up ready to go in the morning.

Howard's still making good progress. About to hit Kinlochewe for what should be a cracking breakfast at the Whistle Stop Café.

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters

Took Huw about 5 hours from Carnmore to Kinlochewe on the new route.

Took me about 4.5 hours last year on the old route, so it looks like the route change hasn't made a great deal of difference in time even though the new route is much shorter!

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters

That new section on the postie's path along the side of Loch Maree must be tough! Huw's done just over 2 miles in the last hour.

He'll be looking forward to a good breakfast in Kinlochewe!

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters

Quite a relaxed start this morning has given Huw a chance to resupply in Lochinver.
