Re: Which GPS?

Another hijack, but also been looking out for one recently. The new etrex touch 25 and 35 look decent, sort of a mix of the oregon, dakota and etrex. They are fairly new so I'm kinda looking around for reviews. One thing I am concerned about is that the touch screen and use with gloves. Anyone had ...

The cube reaction gtc can be had frame only for €499, available in all sizes... http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/cube-reaction-gtc-pro-29-frame-black-n-grey-n-white-495520/wg_id-254 Think that'd work out at £370 for a carbon 1200 gram frame. No idea if they are any good like, but just stood out as...

The new on one maccatuskil 29er might be one to keep an eye on, lighter than the lurcher, more expensive but I would bet they come down to a more reasonable price soon.

Re: cycle to work dilemma £850, limited to Halfrauds / Evans

Have you spoke to Halfords? they can get other brands in including Kona and Kinesis. You could get yourself a nice FF29 or sync build. I've ridden that boardman, it's pretty nice package I must admit. The only thing I disliked (apart from the paint job) was the cable routing as you mentioned, being ...

Anyone rate the Rab ignition 2XL sleeping bag. Got a mate who is well long and looking for a bag to get into bivying. Is 1150g a reasonable weight for this money?

Its easy: 26" is a legacy from when all we had were old paperboys bikes, 29ers are what we got once we started making stuff that worked and 650b is ... the big bike manufacturer's way of trying to get everyone to buy new bikes because everyone didn't immediately abandon their 26ers when the 29...

Some of them funky Klymit mats on sportpersuit. Seems cheaper than most places but I'd advise checking elsewhere too (sometimes these flash sales aren't much cheaper).

If anyone needs to join and goes via my referral link that'd be nice!

Re: Off road bikes are confusing

I'm looking for a new bike as my main ride is a 20 year old ti hardtail with v brakes, I love riding it but would like something with better stopping power when carrying a load, that is a good all rounder and I keep coming back to this http://www.cyclesurgery.com/pws/UniqueProductKey.ice?ProductID=...

Re: Video comp - second vote

TdY was the only one I made this year that didn't really have the shot thought put into it and was really put together in the edit but was so popular. For me, the thing that made that TdY video brilliant was that it captured the vibe of the weekend so well, it's hard not to watch it and smile. My f...

I use hoojums idea with slighty longer conduit. Seems to work well for me with no harness so its a good cheap solution.

Fill 'em with rice, make a good microwavable heat pad if you've got a bad back.

Or you could make a sock monkey/monster.

I've got a Giro hex for MTB evening and weekend rides, and a Giro Indicator for the off-road commute to work. I basically liked the look of the hex so conjured up a two helmet solution in my head to justify the purchase to myself.

Hmm, I have inadvertently got a "bivvy-a-month" run of 2 thanks to joining chew and composite on the Tour De Yorkshire and Nant Syddion rides. I suspect this will change once the weather gets a bit nippier, however they have been two vaguely exciting weekends. This was a great "my fir...

Thanks to all who have posted all the photos, some really good pics. I didn't realise there was so many taken! Loved the camp set up ones, totally forgot to take any then.

Great write up too Neil - you did well to remember so many places in Yorkshire, unless you cheated and checked the maps/gpx ;)
