Remembering Summer

A few months ago there was a short period that could be classed as summer. In case anyone has forgotten what it was like here is a brief reminder of dusty trails and bikepacking:

Re: Twixmas

Scott, My limited IT skills have caught up with me and it seems messages aren't working for me.

Will pick you up 9-30ish tomorrow, sun, but you will have to remind me where home is, I can almost remember but not quite.

Re: Twixmas

I think my preference is to ride in from Rhayader, is there a concensus for a start time and ride distance?

Scott, if you fancy a ride in from the south I can pick you up as am in Shropshire already and save you a train ride.

Re: 'Adventure' reading list

Eric Newbys a short walk in the Hindu kush should be on everyone's list, as should Maurice herzogs Annapurna (proper type 3 fun) and edward whimpers scrambles in the alps ( although my 1900 5th edition is just looked at now lovingly and no longer read). More recently, climbers would enjoy feeding th...

Re: Christmas - New Year

Snowing in shropshire now, might stick if it stays cold overnight. Was a bit traditional riding on longmynd today, I even to had to put a buff on. Would be a bit chilly out on the Kerry ridgeway tonight.

Still planning on being there tomorrow as well.

Re: Christmas - New Year

All,

I was planning a loop slightly further north then but if weather grim (likely) could be tempted by some company and be tempted to join you, assuming you aren't not over bothy spaces already.

Re: North East, anyone fancy it?

I could be tempted, I work in Darlington 3 days a week at the moment so a bivi is a nice change from a hotel. Bit distracted by another event for the next few weeks but mid june would work for me.

Re: North wales loop

Will send GPx out at the weekend, I am away from my computer for a few days so sorry for any delay. There wasn't much potential for type 2 fun and it was mostly because Alan failed to follow the line on his gps properly and charged off in the wrong direction. I like the nant y moch trails, we rode s...

Re: North wales loop

The weather was great, if properly wet weather some of the sections would have had moments of type 3 fun. Once away from the trail centres I think we saw 2 other bikes and very few tyre tracks, and one of these was on the non std bike trail section. Which in some ways is nice as it adds to a sense o...

North wales loop

After several months (years?) of being vetoed for doing big rides in North Wales as convention says the Lakes and Scotland are better I finally managed to get consideration agreed for a North Wales loop. Several evenings of planning, raiding of maps, known trails, guide books old & new and a rou...
