Re: Pleasant Valley Sunday.

Well, another year and another WRT done and yet again I find myself disappointed.

Not disappointed in Stu, Dee, the GR’s, weather, my route selection or anything like that, just disappointed in myself again. As they say, next time will be better.

Re: Pumps

I once again find myself swimming against the tide here. I use (and have for years) a Lezyne Micro Floor Drive HV ABS Pump and its been faultless. In my riding circles we all use them due to high speed of infalting plus size tires and i don't know anyone who has had an issue with one. I have ...

Re: And here's another for you.

I live overlooking a large city park with a mature woodland as part of it (Heath park for those who know's the d'iff).... The problem with fires is now endemic. during the last moth there have been fires lit all over the park, with at least 4 calls going out to the fire service to put them out befor...

Re: Anyone used large Carradice pack for off road?

I know this is about large packs, and I have used a long flap very successfully off-road as others have. However, I prefer to use the Carradice "Audax" bag as a handlebar bag (as have others) very successfully for off-road riding. It works just as well as a bar bag or in its "conventi...

Re: Decanting Smidge into smaller bottle

I use an alternative method: I spray the required anount onto "wet-wipe" type material (ok, its a bunch of old wet wipes that have benn washed and dryed), then seal them in a zip lock bag.

To use, just wipe away. If the wet-wipe becomes too grim, bin it and use another. Works a treat.

Yes they can close them down...anyone remember foot and mouth, where all rights of way and access to agricultural land was banned.

The legislation is in place already

Yes working from home - not pretending to work - but full-on proper working.

Yes a "Classic" or "Dumb" trainer will work if you have a speed sensor. This is the official guide but others on YouTube.

NorwayCalling.... bit Eurovision Song Contest but seeing as most of my post on here are generated from Norway... spending so much of my time here, it felt kind of fitting.

ALPKIT - fantastic service again

So... I spent £125 on sale items with Alpkit last Wednesday.... only to find they I could have saved a further 10% if I had bought the exact same things this weekend... dooh. Email sent on Sunday to Alpkit pointing out this and cheekily asking if I could have a credit for the £25 I would have saved....

Re: Genesis Vagabond - any good?

Thanks for the detailed reply. That sounds pretty good. The one I’m after is a large & should fit fine (I’m 5’10”). It’s had very little use and has been well looked after. The current owner wants £500 for it, which includes a Topeak ST rear rack, a Specialized front Pizza rack and a Topeak exp...

Re: Genesis Vagabond - any good?

I already have a hard tail/rigid (depending on which forks I fit), On-One Inbred 29er. If this isn’t even as good as that, would there be much point in getting one? You would not notice any significant improvement over the ridged Inbred - both would be about the same weight and TBH ride characteris...

Re: Genesis Vagabond - any good?

is it any good - yes and rides nicely - however its not in anyway "light" or "responsive". Load it up with bikepacking kit and this becomes a moot point anyway. Also frame size is a bit non-standard, you do need to get a leg over one before committing. I liked my time with this ...

Re: Dual bottle cage mounts

I too have used this system without issue (on a fat bike) as the 100mm BB kept my legs away from the bottles. Only became an issue on climbs when out of the saddle and my calf would catch. I used side entry cages and it all worked very well. I had a go on my 29er and it did catch more when out of th...
