Garmin Edge 530

For sale, my Garmin Edge 530. I bought this in 2022 however I've never really gotten on with it and tend to default to my beloved Dakota, so I've decided to sell it. It's in excellent condition with no visible marks. It's fitted with a glass screen protector and I've used it in a silicon case since ...

Re: bikepacking .com

In contrast to my comment above, this was a good one - https://bikepacking.com/news/2024-lesperit-de-girona-recap/ A certain amount of introspection but a good way of capturing what looked to be a toughie with plenty of perspective and some pointed digs at the social media culture. The photography t...

14th works for me so far...

I could do a true Tinpot Dictator Job and suggest a bivvy in Tentsmuir forest but I'd be feared of arranging something I don't then turn up to!

Re: bikepacking .com

I've been subscribed for a few years now. The first few journals were a good read, but I eventually got fed up of the same story written for a load of different tours. They all seem to be about the writer finding their inners selves and communing with the world rather than actually saying what they ...

I WFH. But I can arrange my day so I can cycle at lunch time for up to 2 hours ! Thus avoiding the worst of the dark nights .... I just need to start doing it ! I can avoid the worst of the gloop by sticking mostly to forestry fire road, though all the forests are much higher than the house ...

Good that Valerio. Always surprising how many of the trails I recognise, despite only having done 3 BB's - also recognise George from last year and the YD 200 plus Mathew from the NYM 300 last year!

Re: WTD - Mojo

Faustus has hit the nail on the head so not much to add. Cycle commuting is a good way to get out but avoiding busy roads is key to making it enjoyable. If you can work out a route which is off road so much the better. Plus... revel in deliberately going out when the trails are sodden and the weathe...

First test in anger yesterday of the Lakes - very warm but went a bit thick with my socks so left foot toes were a wee bit cramped. Solid rain for the last hour of the ride failed to penetrate them!

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

October.... I had serious doubts I'd get this one in, given what is going on with poor old Dad. Anyway, bruv was happy to take over Mum supporting duties so I had a weekend free to get a bivvy in. After the fraught last few weeks, heading off into the woods to chill out seemed a perfect antidote. Th...

Re: Suggest some winter mtb boots?

Keeping water out the tops of your boots requires gaiters! Planet X / Carnac overshoes work too (neoprene / velcro ones). But for roady boots my vaude overtrousers keep the rain out the tops. Anyway, Lake MX146's turned up today. For £155 I'm happy with them, not sure about paying full wack though (...

Re: Cairgorm inner loop bit - Ryvoan to Bob Scot's

Just to add to Bobs comments, it's a fair old climb up to the shoulder of Bynack Begg but on a good path. The descent is pretty rough but rideable. Then it's a boggy bit through the corrie and a very rocky climb out. The descent following has also been done up and mostly rideable. Then the fun begin...

I'm not sure what they sent me but it has 32 holes not 28
A Son 28 hub is just the model number, not the spoke count.... but the page on Hunts website suggested it's got 28 holes....

Re: Suggest some winter mtb boots?

Just noticed them leaking last year so nearly 9 years with a lot of use. They were the old velcro and lace ones. The ones I got SH are waterproof around the shoe bit but he ankle cuff is only neoprene - the older versions were waterproof right up to the ankle. Oh dear, I've just spied a pair of Lake...
