Re: Bunnies Bothy - capital trail
I stopped off there a few weeks ago for some shelter to have lunch in. Couldnt go inside as was locked. Whilst sat under the porch, a Suberu came down the hill with a black lab bounding along behind, and parked by the hut. A very well spoken and well dressed English couple got out. We exchanged plea...

Re: 29+ frame
I've got a rooster but recently took the 3" tyre off the back for a 2.3" purgatory. The chain can rub on the tyre with a double and 3" tyre. Same for all non boost plus frames. Easy fix with a boost or Surly OD chainset. Can also tweak the ebb outboard a couple of mm to help. Swift d...

Re: 29+ frame
Singular Rooster the best bet. EBB can be adjusted to suit wheel size. XLs pop up second hand. Seen a couple in last month. Maybe one of the Vassago frames might work. Stanton are selling two Sherpa Plus frames (production ready prototypes) in 19 & 21 but they will be boost. Next 29 plus frame i...

Re: Help me with 1x10
Apologies - only just noticed its for a drop bar config . Agreed 10 speed shimano mtb does not work with 10 speed sti. 9 speed mechs work fine. Best set up indexing up and down from one of the centre sprockets on the cassette. Agreed goatlink way forward.

Re: Help me with 1x10
Alternatively use an M8000 11 speed mech as it is the same pull ratio as 10 speed so works on a 10 speed set up, but has themuch bigger range capability

Re: TDR 2017
I camped below Huckleberry Pass during my tour last year. In my rush to pitch my tent, under a ferocious storm (the last rain for 5 weeks), I accidently soaked my tent in Huckleberry wine. It stank for days afterwards, so much for care in bear country

Re: TDR 2017
I've plans, when baby is older, to head out for a very slow 60 day run down the route with my wife. Few years away yet. And at least another fast-ish run down Met a french couple in Hachita last year who had ridden the whole route towing their 12 month old son in a trailer. He was 10 months old whe...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I see Evans are doing the Pinnacle Ramin 3 frame & forks for £200. Full 650b 3 inch tyre or 29 capacity, eccentric bottom bracket, fork anything cage mounts. If that had Salsa or Surly painted on it it would sell like hotcakes.....

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Difficult to say from the ad, or the sellers history whether its genuine or not. I know a few people who shift bikes when they are finished with them in a similar way. Just put on ebay, no reserve and let it run. Sellers history looks like they use ebay occasionally just to get ride of stuff. If I w...

Re: SS Boost Hubs with freewheel thread?
I would prefer the option of easily swapping components between bikes and frames though
(I can currently use the wheels from my Full Suss Turner Sultan on my Tripster touring bike. I like that Option)

Re: SS Boost Hubs with freewheel thread?
I "get" a wider rear boost hub for wheel stiffness and plus tyre clearance but dont understand why the 150mm downhill standard wasnt used! I am not against using spacers on hubs though if it works. My fat bike front wheel is a 135 RDS fitted to a 150mm bolt through fork using the correct H...

Think there is a Marin out there with 141 QR
