Add into that a deep rooted motivation and eagerness to ride a certain route.
Garnished with a little luck.

About sums up what you need for a ride like the HT550.

Re: Chain guide on 1x setup?

Since the advent of narrow/wide chainrings, clutch rear derailleurs and later and especially Eagle drivetrains I've not used nor needed one. In very rough situations I very rarely (like 4 x a year) notice kind of a chain slip on the Eagle system, something I can only provoke with my 160 mm 29" ...

Gian - she's currently tubeless so we'll stay with that. I've seen poor reviews/comments about the Juggernaut Sport, basically as a result of aim to go as light as possible the sidewalls are too thin. The Pro model seems a bit better though. Darn, I was hoping she'd still be in for a treat going tu...

Bud and Lou ran at about 112 mm on my internally 80 mm rim with tubes at round about 0.5 bar. For the snow I mostly ride at home (CH) it was the best tyre I ever used or test rode. I'm on Snowshoe XL now, but just because they also come with studs and because I hurt myself crashing in ice 1-2 a wint...

As with what Retiredtester wrote. I lost my 810 during a rough ride in bushes and got the 820. I seem to be one of the lucky guys. Mine had a few glitches at the beginning, but after a firmware update it was okay. After some minor adjustments to the differences with the 810, I see it definately as a...

Just seen what Mike's mum Pat has posted on facebook. I came half way across the world for my boy. There is no blame no anger and no recriminations I went for my...

We stuck more to the moors past Manchester. Went past (Jersey to Shetland, so the other way round) Buxton, Edale, Glossop, Greenfield, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge. Also through Malham to get more taste of the Yorkshire Dales. Just before Mam Tor https://fstatic1.mtb-news.de/v3/21/2110/2110184-ehns39zni...

If you are venturing out into the sea, just check the tide timetables before hand. The currents are very strong in that part of the world and things could go wrong very quickly if you miscalculate. Re: Multifuel stoves, tell me about them

Oops... When I wrote about the Whisperlite, I was actually refering to the Universal, not International. I'll edit it in my previous post. Difference is two additional jets, meaning you can run the Universal on paraffin oils and canister gas which won't work with the International. I killed a Dragon...

On many trips, some multiple months long I've never had a proper problem due to touching condensation. There's not much to get wet. Just make sure then drops can run off without dripping inside the floor/sleep space. The few touches eg. in the morning with hat/hood won't be noticed come the next eve...

Nearly all modern & quality disc brakes will "lock" a rotor very easily. Almost instantly. This means that the kinetic energy being transferred into heat no longer goes through the rotor but through friction between the tyre and ground. A skid. On long downhills I often experience rid...

Something I forgot about the noise. There are burner caps which turn the noise down significantly. Re: Multifuel stoves, tell me about them

One thing I had heard in favour of the omnilite over the whisperlite is the ability to flush the fuel easier out of the line because the pump is angled in the bottle. is that true or not much of an issue ? Works just as well with all MSR multifuel stoves. MSR just didn't/still doesn't state it in t...
