Re: Pain and suffering
That show, or at least the contestants, totally crazy
Of course, if the trail was overgrown with nettles and brambles at the beginning you wouldn't go there that's why you're only committed to pushing on at the end of the trail![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: Pain and suffering
The flip side of this year's rain/sun/rain/sun is that it's a long time since I have seen the hedgerows and heaths so colourful :-bd Story time - a riding friend of mine who has had heart surgery used to fly out at the bottom of brambly trails covered in a kind of wet pink film  He is now on ...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
*sigh* apart from the one I'm interested in.... Which is odd really as you wouldn't have thought there was that much demand for an SS-able gravel frame. I had one of the original Il Pompinos (ss cross bike). OK, that was before gravel bikes were invented ( ) but it was one of the most fun bik...

Re: Brompacking from Ludlow to Chepstow
Nice one :-bd Shame I wasn't on here while you were planning your ride, I could have directed you from Monmouth to Bigsweir Bridge along rideable disused railway lines (infact all the way from Monmouth to Chepstow off-road with only about 3 miles or so on tarmac, just not on a Brompton!). The landsl...

Or indeed get bled dry with fees and tied to certain products by a 'pubco' presumably. https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmselect/cmberr/26/26we108.htm "the tenant model has been skewed through greed and self-interest". "strong evidence to show that some companies are co...

Re: Want to buy a pub ? (or a part of a pub)
I find it ironic that pubs that close down because they are not used by the local community end up being reopened as community pubs :???: (plus I'm a bit negative about Brockweir because the residents there were one of the biggest objectors to the Wye Valley Greenway going through the village! Their...

On the basis that 'body hair' can somehow manage to thread its way through my lycra shorts I would say yes, it is possible!

I can't help thinking, as someone who has not done it, that the run in from Fort William to Bridge of Orchy is a real sting in the tail after the distance already ridden, especially if you fall into that mental black hole of thinking 'almost there' ![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

Re: HT550 - 2024
If my calculations (and memory!!) is correct, looks like Alex has lost about 20miles to seconds place. Think yesterday the lead was about 40miles for a long time but it’s shrunk to 20 or so *obviously miles in this terrain isn’t the best indicator Another way to look at it is that the guy in 2nd pl...

Well, your post made me chuckle Dave, so it's not all bad
Possibly worth visiting a good Physio if you know of any locally? I've always found them more useful than GPs for that sort of injury.

Re: HT550 - 2024
Alex (the leader) has now covered 250 miles in under 24 hours :o He's now over a day ahead of where I was after 1 day! Looking at the pictures on Alan G's Instagram at how much luggage he's got (I have more on my bike on the Monday commute with my office clothes) I'm going to predict he's not going...
