Re: HT550 - 2024

I can't help thinking, as someone who has not done it, that the run in from Fort William to Bridge of Orchy is a real sting in the tail after the distance already ridden, especially if you fall into that mental black hole of thinking 'almost there'

Re: HT550 - 2024

If my calculations (and memory!!) is correct, looks like Alex has lost about 20miles to seconds place. Think yesterday the lead was about 40miles for a long time but it’s shrunk to 20 or so *obviously miles in this terrain isn’t the best indicator Another way to look at it is that the guy in 2nd pl...

Well, your post made me chuckle Dave, so it's not all bad

Possibly worth visiting a good Physio if you know of any locally? I've always found them more useful than GPs for that sort of injury.

Re: HT550 - 2024

Alex (the leader) has now covered 250 miles in under 24 hours :o He's now over a day ahead of where I was after 1 day! Looking at the pictures on Alan G's Instagram at how much luggage he's got (I have more on my bike on the Monday commute with my office clothes) I'm going to predict he's not going...

That's a shame, often stopped by there whilst riding (the photo in that link makes the road look almost level :o )

Re: What is ádventure?

Does a micro-adventure reduce the time on an adventure or reduce the amount of adventuring during the adventure? Or maybe just reduce the expectation of adventure? Can you have an adventure of the mind tunnelling into words or is an adventure exclusive to getting outdoors and doing something? So man...

The lost lane book series by Jack Thurston are worth buying, some good gems in his books. Agreed :-bd The Wayfarers route in Corwen/Llangollen way is worth a ride, probably not the best route out there (but I like it) but feels ‘pilgrim like’ riding over it Whilst I have taken a road bike over ther...

I'd have thought any pair of A frames with a top rail using those 3-way metal sockets would do it. Similar to the 'bike weigh' frame at WRT or pub garden swing/slide type frame.

I practically live in short-zip long-sleeved fleece tops. Comfy as! They squidge up a bit more bulky but how many would you be carrying?
