Re: So Singletrack just landed through the letterbox and....

No, I’m clear on that point about the fire, however the accusations of tearing down a dry stone wall are unfounded and frankly childish

Re: So Singletrack just landed through the letterbox and....

The least surprising thing about this is the amount of assumptions being made here, its a bloke taking his kids out for the night for fucks sake, the bloke (Barney) is a good friend of mine and well versed in bikepacking etiquette etc. Anyone who thinks that he would tear down a dry stone wall to ma...

Re: Bikepacking.com collective.

I’m quite happy to support Bikepacking.com as its a regular read for me, the magazines should be good enough to share shelf space with a few select other mags

and if nothing else it’s prompted me to feed the bear a wee bit :-)

Re: Packing - what where, conventions?

despite doing this for years and being mindful of the weight I’m still stupid enough to fall into the overpacking trap, I carried a 1kg bag of banana chips and other usekess stuff around new zealand in an ortlieb front pack (pair of them used as a pannier on a front rack) that I don’t think I actual...

Re: Packing - what where, conventions?

generally for an overnighter this Front roll contains sleeping kit, Cumulous quilt, neo air mat, bivvy bag, blow up pillow, silk liner, midge net and down jacket, (its usually an Apidura waterproof) plus a couple of plastic carrier bags to seperate wet bivvy bag from quilt etc if needed, so this onl...

Re: custom steel on/offroad tourer………..idea’s?

I’ve two ECR’s, one with 2 x 10 and one with a Rholoff, they are great bikes but neither are light or supple.

Think a heavier Ogre

and it has rear facing drop outs

Still think that a custom build is what you want, and hand made by yourself would be fabulous

Camille had to sell the bike as it caused a flare up in his arthritis (I think it’s arthritis) so someone else has it now, that bike was absolutely stunning in the flesh and it was designed to be ridden around the alps carrying photography gear
