For sale - Garmin Instinct Solar watch - Sold

For sale - my Garmin Instinct Solar series 1 watch. In good, clean condition, the battery will do around 20 days between charges without using the GPS too much. It’ll come in the original box with a charging lead. The manuals (do you really use the instructions...?) are available to download from Ga...

For Sale - Lunar Solo Tent - NOW SOLD!

The grey one, pretty good used condition, no damage, tears or punctures. I had a go at seam sealing it at a few years ago which worked ok, peeling a bit now though. Seems to be effective. It'll come with the side guylines and enough pegs but I'm keeping the pole so you'll need to get one of Stu's I'...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

Winter event here too with Dr Nick and Swede,

A leisurely bimble around Hafren forest followed by a night at the “visitor centre”, enough shelter but not like Reg’s palatial accommodation.
Frosty, icy roads, good breakfast.

We managed a half dozen outings last year, full house this year?

Re: Do you remember your first time?

Thanks Tony! He carried on racing and touring into his 70s (and took the top pic of me). He rode Lands to John O’Groats both ways to celebrate his 70th birthday (yes, really!) He said that he and his mate in the pic tried to make a makeshift tent /tarp contraption from parachute silk - plenty availa...

Re: Do you remember your first time?

This was probably 1977, somewhere just near Llangollen on my first proper trip. We used hostels and B&Bs (sorry) on a tour around Wales. https://live.staticflickr.com/3837/15121010682_945381b07d_z.jpg This pic taken by my Dad during my 1st bike tour, I think 1977 or 78, near Llangollen by Richar...

Re: Winter Event GR.

Thanks are due from me not only for organising and putting the event on, but also for saving my entire weekend from abject failure. I have probably 10 or twelve front wheels for my various bikes. And every single one of them was at home in the garage when I arrived at llanbrynmair. Pillock!. Dee and...

I went to Screwfix and got a length of M8 all thread and some nuts and washers. 10 mins with a tape measure and hacksaw and I was good to go.

Re: What's your current dream bike?

Love mine - 1999 vintage, so slightly shorter "top" tube. Replaced chain/sprocket recently. Nightmare getting them. Rutland did the swap (£10 bargain!) but I had to order the bits myself from brilliantbikes. (Ok, ok, finished now, Ben and I'll just slope off and skulk in our own separate ...

Re: selling all and getting a cheating bike.

Go for it Tony! Make sure you keep riding, as has been said above even with a bit of help the advantages still outweigh the cons. But you’ll likely need two. I was told I wouldn’t be able to ride any more a few years ago, I believed it would be permanent. I was gutted. Sold a few bikes, bought a Lev...

Re: A WRT on Bromptons.

Thanks chaps, positive vibes all round! We had a great time, completely unstressed. The Brompton bag and my old Karrimor saddle bag easily carried all our gear, the Carradice bag carrier also allowed the bike to fold in the normal way. There’s an awful lot of vids on YT about Brompton touring and ca...
