Re: Drafting

I reckon I'm a wheel sucker, though I did discover the joy of drafting behind a truck once, in Morocco. The driver went at a perfectly even pace to help me up a hill. Easiest hill climb of my life. http://i1.wp.com/www.farawayvisions.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/morocco-high-dan-9-2014-12-18-006.j...

Re: Cover (and other) pictures sought.

Stuart,
Perhaps you have seen a photo that you like somewhere? As you have said before, bikepacking means different things to everyone. Show us an example.

More importantly, it's nice to know you're a closet Mills and Boons reader.

Re: https://www.warmshowers.org

We host on warmshowers and I'm inundated with requests during the summer months. I tend to go incognito to get a break. Though if anyone here ever needs a hot dinner and a dry room for the night, drop me a PM even if I'm unavailable on the site. Although I've tried several times to be a guest, I've ...

My partner and I use an Alpkit Rig7 with bivvy bags. We also have a tent option.

Re: Cuba - Rum Beer and Cigarettes

Looks great, any off road to be had? We went off-road, though many routes were impassable due to the depth of mud. There are miles and miles and miles of tracks and off-road sections, and we were never challenged about where we were going. I'll explain more later and upload (off-road) pics. Only re...

Re: Cumulus Sleeping Bag Question

I have a Cumulus Lady rated at -7. It's got extra filling around the feet and a fleece lining to help keep the tootsies warm, but being only 5'2", even the lady version is too long so I never get the benefit of the feet. There is a load of room around the torso which I love as I don't like to f...

Hot food sounds good to me. I can live without live music, though would enjoy some random bikepacker player a guitar that he/she has taken along. Surely there are a few musicians out there.

I've washed interview notes before and lost my story, but that's not in anyway helpful. Perhaps give customs a call and see what they advise.

Cuba - Rum Beer and Cigarettes

Been home for a couple of weeks now and finally got around to getting a post together. This first post is about the trip from Holguin to Gibara. If you've ever thought about bikepacking in Cuba, go soon. I am so glad we went when we did. The heat was tough, 30C and more. Food and drink... ...well re...

Re: Bike bags. . . . for the Italian Job

Dan and I use the CTC bags. Plenty big enough for a 29er. Been on multiple trips using these and no damage to bikes. Flown with Easyjet, BA and Virgin. They're a bit bulky to carry around, but if you're able to leave them at the airport, we did that in Amsterdam. There are no straps on the bag, but ...

A few weeks ago, I rode with a woman I met in the workplace. And because it's that time of year, I wrote about family and friends. (I promise, there's no mention of us leaving for Cuba first thing tomorrow morning)

Re: Sorted: Has anyone used gorilla cages on their longitude

It was a bit of a saga, they wanted us to send the entire bike back at first. then Genesis sent another fork to a local bike shop, it's not new or perfect either but it works. Did I mention we were going to CUBA, Cheeky Monkey? Two more sleeps. Come new year and I'll bombard you with pics and tales....

Cutting it fine, but our Christmas Accommodation arrived- TrekkerTent inner to keep out the mozzies, ants and sand biting criiters. Had a quick look at it in the kitchen. No time to try until we hit the wilds of Cuba. Soooo excited.

Re: Has anyone used gorilla cages on their longitude forks?

Thanks Jbay, I've grabbed a couple of screen shots from twitter. The position of the bosses is definitely too far back on Dan's bike. Hopefully Genesis will agree when they see the two pics side by side.

Re: Has anyone used gorilla cages on their longitude forks?

Update on the communication from Madison (Genesis) "Dear Dan This is how they are meant to be, the ones by the brakes are at a different angle so there is clearance next to the brakes, a new fork will not help as the mounts will be in the same place. We have not had this issue with any of the o...
