Re: The post man's been ...

Dropped off a mudguard for the Solaris. Hoping that means the weather will be nice! I've taken my old Zefal one off. It was fine for mincing around but on quick rough terrain in my new home turf it would bounce off the rear wheel. The sound was bloody annoying and now I'm somewhere with better ridin...

Re: Todays ride

Was supposed to meet a mate for a ride on Monday but had to bail due to work. Deferred till yesterday but he had to bail for work. Easy to not bother but got dressed early as that's often half the battle when I CBA. Ate WAY too much for dinner and could barely move, that really didn't help - took th...

My otterbox XS case has been good. After about 2.5 years the only rubber on the port cover is splitting at the hinge. Otherwise it's been ace

Re: Jones loops vs drop bars

Been thinking about bikes and bars again recently. It brought me back to this thread, the comments above are really interesting Since moving house I’m now regularly riding with a local MTB group in the South Downs, most riders on FS bikes with a couple of hardtails too, I’m the only one riding rigid...

Re: Bluetooth headphones

I have some airpods pro which are genuinely excellent but I'm too worried about losing then while riding. Brilliant if you have more than one apple device as they switch between them instantly I have a cheap pair of anker ones, not true wireless as the buds have hooks for your ears and then connecte...

Timber Bell (bolt on, not band on) on my mtb. Plus a normal Bell on my mtb. Plus my voice

That's on my most used bike. Timber Bell is ace and a really happy sound

Re: Overnight laundry service

Only vaguely related but a mate and I rode our Ducatis through England and across France to the Bol d'Or race near Marseille then headed to Bologna to the the Ducati factory, When we got there a couple of the workers asked where we'd come from and then escorted us for a tour of the factory and then...

That was sort of what I meant. If someone bought onto that trip, they probably wouldn't own up for fear of being berated! Not enough hardship involved or sleeping in ditches or whatever

Re: Budget Tour of the Montañasvacias

Just to play devil's advocate, if someone from this forum signed up for that trip has much would they get judged? Big money trips have been around forever, having the cash to enjoy your holiday and the little things shouldn't really be frowned upon, we need people to do that. It's no different to ha...

Yes the Ikea Ladda batteries are excellent, right on par with Eneloops

I also have the Ikea USB AA/AAA charger, I find it's OK but not amazing. Perfectly functional though

Re: Wet Gear Query

I have a lot of waterproofs, wear different ones for different reasons. Everything from single and double layer ventile to goretex pro My Outdry does work very well but does need the pitzips, it's not the most breathable thing. Good for biking because of the lack of DWR. Only thing I don't like it t...

Re: New GPS ideas please.

The bouncing off road won't help with the port and plug. Were you using 90 degree plugs to help? The Oregon is used on motorcycles (I have on mine, though powered only by AAs), not sure if they use a special mount for the cable as well. The Montana is particularly popular on off road long distance m...

Bloody hell, that's so fast

What are your thoughts on gravel bike vs MTB? You said you were faster on the downs with the MTB and had the leverage of wider bars. How about on the climbs and the flats? What about the smoother sections?

Re: Dales Divide. anyone having a go ?

Top work everyone

Gravel bikes have massively increased in popularity and made events like this feel like an opportunity for many riders. I haven't seen the terrain but on anything bumpy/rocky it must be bloody tiring. Unless they're at the drop bar mtb end of the scale
