The Neo looks really good - well priced, enough tricks out of the box, and low faff

Re: Singlespeed UK 2025

Really close to me, and I would love to attend, but bloody hell they've picked a bad weekend. There are two different events (for other hobbies) that weekend and it's always a struggle trying to do both

Re: SOTO Windmaster

Bigger and bulkier than others, but it's a bloody excellent stove Recommend it, if you can find a pot combo that works well for it. It works well with a canister in my Snow Peak 700 pot, but for example not my MSR titan kettle I switch between gas and meths depending on the trip, as a gas stove it's...

Re: Flipfuel or similar

Sean said it far more eloquently  Helpful tip - I write the full weight of the 100g canisters on the bottom with a sharpie, before it's first use. I then write the empty weight on the bottom when it's empty. The difference is the weight of the gas. Before I fill it, I put the receiving caniste...

Re: Flipfuel or similar

I bought a budget one years ago and it works great. Although I refill my smaller canisters from the aerosol type canisters as I find it works out even cheaper, so that's the adaptor I bought. I was really cheap from memory, like well under a fiver

Lots of deliveries but not always bikepacking ish related. This time it was Four packs of 4 tube steak pegs from big sky international. plus a tent peg bag. I have somehow lost my big Easton nails, they were ace. These are supposedly better as the tops can't come off by accident A lot of money just ...

Re: Woods Rat Run

The heathland to the west of the road from the ferry to Swanage would be a good spot to stop. As long as you pitch late and leave early I can't imagine you'll have any trouble there. Around Agglestone Rocks for example Alternatively on top of the ridge that heads east from Corfe Castle. Slightly bus...

I would definitely recommended a minor detour on a bit of trail that I wasted time on and felt like I was fully trespassing through someones property - actually I was absolutely doing that, had to get the gates on their drive to open https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/new-forest-conditions/#po...

Re: Brakes; mechanical or hydraulic?

I have BB7s on my cargo bike. With a properly loaded bike (couple of kids and stuff) it’s fine but not inspiring, I’ve been meaning to put a hydro on the front but I’ve had it nearly 5 years and it’s worked fine. Slightly unfair though, when loaded probably weighs twice what a fully loaded bikepacki...

Brompton. Smallest, most compact and best fold. Perfect if you want a folder

Not the best riding, but it's still fun to ride and I do quite a few miles on mine.

Might be over budget though...

I think you were the only person we saw on Sunday - outside the pub in the Lake Vyrnwy hotel, that wasn't serving food and was the whole point of cycling up that climb!

Re: WRT 24 thanks

Thanks to everyone involved, particularly Stu and Dee, it's a great event Despite ticking off quite a few of the GRs (or passing very close by), we didn't see many riders over the weekend, which was a surprise/shame. But the weather was far better than expected and I didn't wear my waterproof at all...

BB carbon poles - 110cm and 100cm

I have two of Stu's poles to sell. Both used and plenty of life left in them Technically the 100cm pole is 101cm (to the bottom of the metal ferrule) and the 110cm pole is 109.5cm. Both three section poles I'd like £22 for the 100cm and £27 for the £110cm but priority given to anyone who wants them ...

Re: packable fleece?

Also a huge fan of fleece. Wear one most days Fleece doesn't pack down well. It's why it's such a good top, it retains its structure so keeps breathability etc I use a polartec alpha top as my sleep layer (macpac nitro). It's lighter than most baselayers, can be used as midlayer, feels instantly war...
