Re: What does your Christmas look like?
Our side of the family have not done presents for years and it is a great relief. Under 18's are allowed presents though. A niece of mine turned 18 earlier this year so I am down to one nephew, daughter and two grand children. My mother died last month and the funeral was 10 days ago so myself and h...

I had a similar issue, my problem was that my credit card I paid on had expired. Once I updated my payment details with my new card all was good.

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
Pete / Reg thanks. I never really thought bam would take off as it did. It is both simple and difficult to achieve. Chew and Taylor also managed a full year in 2012 and I do enjoy reading people's adventures each year and sympathise when they fail due to life happening. A couple of times I have been...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
Yay, December bivvy done last night. I headed out 23 miles into Leicestershire to a bird hide I have stayed at before. Closing in on Ashby i realised my Revo dynamo light was not too bright. I pulled up and realised that somehow one of the wires had broken and it was slowly fading. I had bought a sp...

I saw a mention of the 'Winer' event in January. Is there an H missing or are we expected to bring our best crystal?

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
Got out last night, my last chance. The beginning of the month started off badly and two weeks ago today I woke up with a sore throat which I expected to disappear quickly. I was still suffering on Monday and Tuesday was my first good day. Decided to stay in and go last night and ended up in the sam...

Ah! I have cycled past Elston and Orston station and wondered about bivvying there previously.
If I choose to stop there hopefully there will be no engineering works like when I tried to kip at Bamford.

It passes through Cannock Chase I noticed. Must have a look at the expected date and perhaps bivvy out when it arrives here.

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
I have had a difficult few weeks and time to get out has been a problem. However I got myself out last night. I only went 3 miles from home to a small wood near an industrial estate but overlooking a pond. There were frequent lorries all night which was unexpected. I was surprised how warm it was. I...

Re: Organised bikepacking trips? Or anyone interested in small group ride
Have a look at Pannier.cc They only have a couple of UK trips on their site currently as I believe Covid has affected tours. The Scottish trip, held last month, sounded nice.

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
RIP: sounds like you were close to Hicks Lodge, my quieter spot is about 5 miles south of there. Hicks Lodge is open until 8pm on Thursday all year round so good for food and then find a spot. Some years ago it was forecast to be a wet night so I decided to kip under the overhang at the cafe not rea...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
So, my official write-up of Tuesday's night bivvy is as follows. I had intended to go on Monday but it rained quite a bit early afternoon and I put it off for 24 hours. Herself was determined I would get out (found out later GBBO was on tellybox) and she made us an early tea and told me not to waste...

I have done a number as well, great motivation to just get out. Aim for a 100km or 200km once a month. Besides the calendar events you can go diy from your front door.

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
Enjoyed the write up on the KAW, must do it sometime. I think I missed the bivvy of a generation a few days ago. People waiting to join The Queue slept out one night to be at the front when it all opened. I could have got the train down hopped on the Brompton across town and laid out my mat and bag ...

Shaf, the winter event is like the WRT, just over two days and the rain is colder. Do what you want for as long as you want.
It starts at the same place as the BB200

There is a waymarked route from Salisbury to Chester (NCN45) that you might be able to use for a section.

Re: Anyone from Leicestershire?
Sameer, I did a couple of rides around Rutland area this summer but usually more up around Bradgate, Beacon Hill and Swithland and some of the NCN routes going through the woods. I have also ridden in the Hicks Lodge/ Measham area up to Conkers. South of Hicks Lodge around an old colliery area (near...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
I got my #bam in a couple of weeks ago. August was looking busy and I wondered if I would manage anything a bit longer and more exciting later in the month. So, on the 14th I did a local night out, only half an hours ride from home. I went to a spot I had seen previously down a footpath but the area...
