Re: Spokes

I used some pillar spokes from aliexpress that are very similar to the cx-ray http://s.aliexpress.com/JN3ueYzY They were fine to build with but you’ll need a bladed spoke holder to get them straight without marking them. Using them scratched an itch I had but I have since defaulted to sapim d-light ...

Garmin etrex 30 and RAAM mount

Garmin etrex 30 with 16 gb SD card. There is most recent version of openmtb GB map installed. USB cable included that seems to give reliable connection to unit from computer. Couple of slight scratches to screen but not visible when screen is on. There are some deeper scuffs to unit away from screen...

WTB asym i35 rims 650b

I have 2 rims that I’ve changed my mind on and am about to return to CRC. I paid £45 per rim, looks like they’re now selling for £61 so if anyone is considering then a chance to get them a bit cheaper

I’d recommend getting on the turbo at 1959 on a Thursday evening. If your in an urban setting you’ll get a round of applause just for getting on it!

Or in Cardiff last night neighbours banging saucepans and someone letting fireworks off....

Explorers web has a list of free Banff Mtn Film Festival films that can be viewed for free https://explorersweb.com/2020/03/23/100-adventure-films-to-stream-for-free/ Anybody get this to work? Hi Stu,

I bought one here that isn’t ideal for what I want on reflection, but it’ll only take 26” wheels. Think I paid £50 plus postage and Includes the dry bag. Let me know if you want some photos

I have a set that I offered up to my cargo bike and decided they didn’t offer me anything extra. Looks like they’re £25 on on one plus postage depending on how much you spend overall. I’m open to offers. I’m in Cardiff if you’re local to there and wanted to collect.

Re: Any thoughts on the poorer cousin of the MW7: anyone (winter shoes again, sorry)

I have a pair - find them comfortable and they keep feet dry. I get cold feet and when it’s cold out on long rides my feet will still freeze in them. I have some 45Nrth Japanthers which are a very definite step up in warmth. I’m not sure how suitable the MW5s would be for long days out in winter dep...

My memory of that is that the track off to the left isn't initially obvious but just as it goes over the crest of the hill becomes obviously surfaced. Case of following the gpx line.

Even more vague but if you miss it recall a stream crossing then a left hand bend and possibly a slight rise

Take something to write with - you'll need to write on your Brevet card. Depending on how efficient you need to be at controls always order something you can eat straight away as well as something that needs to be prepared. Ask for water bottle refills when you order not when about to leave. I often...

Charger is also not something I’ve ever needed using the smaller batteries. With just GPS plugged in the batteries will charge from flat in about 1 hour of cycling I used the extension cables from the magic shine lights as a source of molded on waterproof connectors. Used to get them from Dx for a c...

Could be when you have put in the first spoke on the 2nd side you lace up that you have chosen the wrong hole in the rim - 1 too far round or not far enough if that makes sense. Think I've managed to do that and get problem you describe. Effectively the 2 patterns are laced at different angles on th...

Another option might be handwarmers placed on the back of hands in gloves - used to fly a paraglider and during winter it was the only way I could keep my hands warm. I used the 'hothands' ones from Amazon
