Re: Jones truss fork on another bike ?
I've got two Jones bikes. The way most people fit the Truss fork is using a 10mm spacer on the bottom and a shim on top to tension the fork against the headset. The headset is basically a pair of top bearings, one on the bottom and one on top. A quick go with a tape measure shows the centre of the a...

Re: Hate to bring it up again but ...
I've got a part time job delivering shopping for Tesco. One example of the stupidity of people happened a couple of weeks ago. A woman opened the door to me, she had a bit of a cough. Her husband had a positive covid test, she hadn't been tested and in her mind couldn't possibly have it because she ...

Re: Anyone seen a nice SS frame lately?
If you know exactly what you want in Ti but it doesn't exist then how about design it yourself and get it made. It's dead simple to do and cheap. I've done a few road bikes that work out around £500 a frame, a mountain bike will be similar. First off design it using bikecad: https://www.bikecad.ca/ ...

Re: What are your feelings about next year?
The history lesson from the Spanish Flu says two years, I can't see this being any different. It'll take most of the year to vaccinate those that want it. I'm 57 and won't get it until June at the earliest Meanwhilee people will continue to spread it around, clog the hospitals and generally be thick...

I've never understood why anyone would ride singlespeed on the road. Fixed yes, but not singlespeed.

Re: ever wish you were strong enough to ride single speed ?
I always ride singlespeed in the winter, freewheel off road and fixed on road. Why? Because I'm as hard as nails (not)! Off road here is thick sticky clay and singlespeed makes a lot of sense. The chain line is outside the frame tubes so I'm not using the chain as a mud cleaner if that makes sense. ...

Re: Is next year a write off already?
The history lesson from Spanish Flu is that it lasted for 2 years and places that locked down hard and fast had fewer deaths and recovered economically a lot faster. Given that pandemic planning seems to be whatever Dominic Cummings dreams up on a weekly basis I would expect next year to be write off.

Put pictures into a Google sheet or doc. You can both work on it at the same time.

I've got a pair of Arch MK3's that I built in 2016 and are going strong. Another pair built in 2017 by a shop developed cracks on the rear within 6 six months. I got the replacement rim and built it myself, it's been fine ever since. I always build using a tension meter.

I've got a pair of Fizik shoes with boa laces. Bought them in 2015, they've been in regular use since. They've done one Divide, several 2/3 week tours and too many day rides to mention. No problems at all.

I've got one headset and 4 bottom brackets on the go. The headset is a few years old and lives on my singlespeed. This is my winter bike and gets subjected to all sorts of abuse, neglect and power washing. It's been fine since I bought it. Bottom brackets are 2x24mm and 2xPF40. I have the grease too...

They're always cheap. It's just a question of how much they expect you to pay for one. I used to work near a bike shop that sold own brand carbon frames from Taiwan. Chatting to the owner, he'd asked the bloke that ran the frame factory about steel frames. Factory owner was "FFS, I'll have to ...

I assume that's the one you bought from me, it had about 5 miles on it, so practically new. If there's something we can do with the warranty let me know.

Nothing better than a few beers with the chiminea alight to keep the evening chill at bay. Apart from the patio heater I also own a leaf blower (think of it as a ...

Just to add, cassette sprockets are designed to let the chain fall off, if they weren't then you wouldn't be able to shift. A single cog from a cassette is narrow where it fits on the hub, the Surly ones recommended above are more than twice the width at the hub, this reduces the damage a narrow cog...

Here's a random idea. If you do Facebook get in touch with Bikeworx Bike Shop in Angeles City. It's my mate in the Philippines, they sell loads of bikes and all their customers are short. My mate is Jake but he has staff.
