Re: Bivvy a month 2022
Managed two in Aug, both int Lakes 7/8 First one was a short-ish ride from Ambleside, looks like it’s had a fair bit of use since I was last there as there’s now several scorch marks dotted around x( https://i.imgur.com/8tpnniW.jpg Next one was at the Grizedale bus shelter, bit of a Ninja Warrior tr...

Have a search on eBay for ‘humanscale chair’ John, the high-back type is the one to get. Still pricy 2nd hand like, but if you keep an eye out you may find something reasonable..

I once ended up in a Drum & Bass night in Fernie, that didn’t end well either. The lad I went with went missing for 3 days…

I’ve got a small Gondola, only used once in anger but seems rock solid with zero sway, did slip down the seat rails onto the seat post though..

Re: First Bikepacking adventure in the north west, looking for company
That’s the one! Although I think it’s closed now.
That route looks very much like the one I’m thinking of, but instead of crossing on the Runcorn bridge, you cross much nearer Warrington.
The other way from the Fiddle passes under the arches near Earlestown, onto Blackbrook & Carr Mill dam

Re: First Bikepacking adventure in the north west, looking for company
I’m not familiar with the riding routes over in Birchwood, but if you can get over to Winwick, then down to the Fiddle I’th Bag, you can get on the canal at the back of the pub. The canal is a good ‘highway’ that you could use for accessing Delemere one way, all the way to Rivington the other, &...

Re: First Bikepacking adventure in the north west, looking for company
What area of Warrington are you? If you can get on the Sankey Canal & follow it all the way to Carr Mill, then onto Wigan, there’s also some spots over that way. If you want to put the mileage in, you can also continue onto Rivington. There’s also heading north up the coast to Formby, or into No...

Re: Cafe/shop locks for Bikepacking
Apart from having to find somewhere to store a greasy thru axle and you've now made the theft of your wheel really easy I can't see that being any better than just carrying a small lock like those suggested above. As Stu said anything to stop someone just walking off with it and buying you some tim...

Re: OT Heat Pumps and Solar
I touch on ASHP via work fairly regular (but am not an expert), there's basically two parts- heating & hot water. The best piece of advise for heating is below- Would reiterate that you need to sort out insulation first-once that’s done you should be able to get the benefits of heat pumps. From ...
