Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

As mentioned elsewhere, I did the Trans Cambrian Way last weekend, timing it perfectly to get three days of dry and sometimes sizzling weather while those at home endured a deluge. However, we were taking it easy and staying at campsites, so that left me still needing to do a July bivy. With a very ...

Re: Boners on the Gower.

Looks ace and I’m really sorry I missed it. I’d double-booked and instead did the TCW for the first time in what I’m guessing were once-in-a-lifetime bone-dry conditions.

Re: Thoughts on waist bags

I hve the Osprey with the bladder and a similar Camelback one. I prefer the Osprey and have been using it for tools, tube and water on most day rides. As with any waist pack, it’s uncomfortable if overloaded, so I tend to only half fill the bladder and rarely use it on rides where I’m packing an ext...

Since last Thursday my maim occupation is riding my bike, so I guess I’m a pro cyclist.

Now, where do I get my drugs? And where do I register for my drug tests?

Re: Saddle for all day comfort

Luckily, my lardy arse seems happy with a fairly wide range of saddles. I tend to use a Charge Spoon or the Madison equivalent on MTBs. I find them as comfy as anything else for long rides. On the road bike I have a knock-off of the Specialized Power saddle. Not done great distance on it yet but it ...

I did a taster in London. Really enjoyed it and I can see how it could be addictive but I’d need a track on my doorstep to do it regularly.

Re: food weight (calories per 100g nerdiness)

Interesting but, for me, in the UK, on a bike, and as someone who views eating as pleasure not just fuelling up, this is a level of nerdiness too far. It’s useful to have some basic knowledge about calorie density but I’d only go to these lengths if I had to carry food for a long trip without any ch...

Re: Geoff Bars vs Jones H

I’ve got some of the Alpkit Fu Manchu bars, which are, I think, from the same catalogue as the Geoffs. I use the Wildcat bag with them and it fits fine. Not huge capacity but it will sit happily above my bar harness and bag.
