Re: selling all and getting a cheating bike.
to achieve something I could otherwise do manually currently feels wrong and I think I'd miss that. I agree but none of us are riding away form the ageing process. The question then becomes which is better not doing them or doing them with an ebike? I am confident I will be picking the ebike option...

What he said ^^ If it lets you get out and ride with mates then get one The fact ebikes exists fills me with joy as my physical limitations and ageing wont stop me riding into old age. I doubt any of us look forward to this day arriving but at least its the day i got an ebike and not the day I gave ...

I have see sense lights that seem to the same - not sure what " alert you to stuff behind means in the marketing blurb]
TBH its just like a normal light once you put it on - does it make me more visible no idea as i dont follow myself to know - they were free though

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
I heard a rumour you can ride bikes through mud - though not american ones with their tiny rear tyre clearances [ i learnt that the hard way]
So now not only does the " race" route change every year they dont all even ride the same route - a rather odd " race" by any standard

Re: Praxis M30 BB Bearings
Assuming they are a standard size ( or measure them with calipers and post up) any bearing shop should be able to order them for you / get them I just take my knackered ones in and say one of those please. Only American bearings seem to be a pain as often they are imperial The lack of stock may mean...

Re: Hit me with your Bivy Stick
For me the two way comm has so far been the best part of my InReach. This but i did consider a PLB as well for the reasons noted- they have shelf life though so they are not quite as free as stated as at some point you will need a new battery - they are still hundreds of pounds cheaper over the 6- ...

No different from a phone or MP3 or some such and I assume most either

2. take a power bank
3. Charge in pubs and cafes
4. a combination of the above

then its clearly a waste of time doing either
I stand corrected as I assumed/thought both were a set route - with occasional variation due to events that year but there was a "set route"

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
weather and conditions are in the lap of the gods but the course should at least be the same route or its a bit pointless to have a record for a course that is not the same route[ or distance or elevation]

Yes I let them pass but it's as much about not wanting someone impatient behind me as it is about politeness. Basically we could hog the road and stop them getting past buts it's shared space and we all need to do our bit 5o make it as good as possible for all. I sometimes even just hop onto the ker...
