Re: Your gear pile, get shot / rainy day?

if you do not have too much kit and to many bikes then can you really call yourself a cyclist/bokepacker? I can justify it all and explain why i have it [including the 4 camelbaks] but I am sure i could get by if half of it disappeared *- it would be sub optimal at least some of the time * DO i real...

Re: Ladies and gents, I give you the On-One packraft.

agree in general though I do buy when its dirt cheap and everything has been fine bar one order.

When it goes wrong they are terrible and i got three sets of lies[ over the space of a week] and then eventually someone sorted it in a few minutes .

Customer service is at erratic.

Re: Shimano now have a 'Gravel' groupset.

it's mental how long it's taken them to recognise that people want lower gearing, and not just for 'gravel'. You always could get lower gears just in an unfashionable way- triples are still available - though becoming increasingly rare No interest in a single ring for mine though as big is commute ...

i rode it dovey to knighton as at least you arrive somewhere. I assume that arriving at dovey must feel like you have run out of land rather than arrived anywhere.

Re: Long term lights: real world reviews

is it because chinese lights are so cheap and easily available?

The batteries[ in the uk] cost more in this country than the entire light which comes with batteries.

I am not spending more than £ 3 on one probably nearer £1

Re: NOT the Trans Cambrian Way.

I found parts of it to be a bit pointless - there for the distance rather than anythign interesting to see- so would love to see an alternative toute Secondly there are multiple coast to coast routes in England so why not in Wales? Given that put it up as a "rival" and see which becomes the most pop...

Re: Another Tubeless Question, Sorry.

Unfortunately I'm now in a dilemma: it's her bike for the Highland Trail so do I risk leaving it as it is and really trust that the sealant has worked or do I take the tyre off and retape it? themost common place mine leak and i advise two things 1) tight valve stem but not overtight - I have unscr...

Re: Advice please - Converting a commuter to a gravel bike

UCI limit is still 32 c so yes that is fine

Never ridden proper off road with anything bigger than 32 but I advise tubeless or getting used to pinch flats at those sizes

If i had the terrain locally it would be a very useful tool as it is it would just be a barely used indulgence .

Do wish i lived somewhere where it would be useful.

Re: Thin Tyres On Wide Rims?

I have 29er wheels but not in boost spacing for the front.
Ebay do conversion kits - basically a spacer for the disc mount and 5 mm for the hub - less than a tenner

i have never used them as my wheelset is a BOOST front QR rear version

Re: Thin Tyres On Wide Rims?

29 er wheels fit so a set of those with the tyres of your choice - if you really want i can tell you the weight saving [tomorrow night] if i weigh the wheels you gain speed you dont lose that much comfort [though i use suspension forks so not sure about if fully rigid,] those rims dont look suitable...

Re: Joytech RCC Rear Hub Longevity?

Does it not make more sese to wait and see if the hub/bearings actually break rather than just replace it for sealed? service the hub after pretty much every set and muddy ride. Absolutely not my experience Cup and cone does get some abuse from the interent but having just serviced mine [ Winter SS ...

i have used the alpkit one - its fine in use - and can hold much more than the one below- did not foul the wheel on suspension forks Generally i just use my apidura bag* though - IME its stable as can be when in use and only remove it for my larger winter sleeping bag and air bed. more air - usually only if i am adding gorilla cages to the set up otherwise its only like adding 2kg tops to your overall weight [ more if you use water bottle bar mounts]

even then only 3-5 psi more - I doubt it actually really matters but it is part of my ritual .
