30 mins in so far and enjoyable so far I liked the late night rambling bit as it captured the state you get into whilst doing this sort of thing.

Massive scenery as well.

you want the last one not that i have used it. I assume the plastic capped end screws into a calor gas type bottle
You certainly want to do it outside and away from ignition sources.

Re: Tyre Damage

I have had straght line slashes on tyres like that - however i find it hard to believe you would get a slash that would be sufficiently deep and powerful enough, yet still light enough to just damage the outer tyre, rather than slash everything It possibly it got scratched there and then it happened...

I just point my light away from the road to the kerb[or cover the top half with my hand] and then use their lights till they pass or not bother as the case may be.

Spare socks shorts and top. Don't like putting on wet kit first thing in the morning . So I get to delay this by a day.

Re: Cassette with full spider?

did they ever do a cassette like that ? Pretty sure even my 9 speed XTR was two lots of 3 on alloy blocks then steel small sprockets - not really much space there to fit an alloy spider on the small cogs . Steel freehubs used to be available for hope hubs, no idea about now, which prevent his but we...

Re: exposure lights

no one is putting the cap back on with gloves on - it would be like one of those impossible puzzles.

Its a very minor complaint but it just took me three goes to get it in [ though on the second it went in but popped back out again.] Its just fiddly basically

what they said - a dynamo hub wont spin like a normal hub and if you spin mine by hand [ shimano not son] you can feel the magnets as you do so

it wont spin as freely as a normal front wheel but this is normal

Re: exposure lights

agreed and its only really an issue after it has been charged so i am sat in the house without gloves on - my mate has an older joystick version and his is fine and easy to do-might just be a minor tolerance issue? Some caps are marginally bigger so awkward ??

Re: exposure lights

its juts a proper awkward fit - almost like you are trying to fit a cap that is a little too big into a space you can make it go with effort/precision/care/fumbling- if you dont do it right it just pops/falls back off.

Re: water bottle slung from down tubes

My bottle the entire cap/top/mouthpiece is covered with a plastic dome cap so that no dirt/mud/crap can get to where i would put my mouth.

I am also fairly sure i can decant it without smearing or pouring mud at the same time - wipe it off on some grass then decant.

Re: Rescue me!

I reckon it's more important most of us in the UK carry a torch and whistle. I think it really depends where you are - some remote places in wales and scotland wont get much foot fall or through traffic but probably enough for the Lakes. How many folk know the correct signal with either and how man...
