Re: what is this black magic??
See if that end cap pulls off...long nose pliers wrapped in a bit of rag and be gentle when pulling/twisting...failing that, have a good look down the axle and make sure it doesn't use a big F-off Allen key, a 12 or something. If nothing doing, support where the disc bolts on and some firm twats wit...

Re: Anyone broken a Brooks Cambium?
I was the bloke who elongated the holes in my (first hundred worldwide tester!) saddle. They sent me a new top and I managed to make it like new. Now, there is the strange line across the front, right where it crosses the cantle plate. So I've taken a leaf out of the old school way of fixing em, and...

I was watching that too, in the vain hope of a bargain! Pretty much a dream build but I'm sure it's been listed before. Do a Google search on the images to see if they show up anywhere else. I would do it myself, except I am a Luddite, and although I've heard the youngsters talking about doing it, I...

I saw the decathlon one today...2.5 litres and attaches by Velcro straps. To give you an indication of size, I almost managed to get it to fit in the loop of my Jones bars  Yep, I bowled in there with my salsa spearfish, as there is no way I'm leaving it unattended in harlow for any amount of ...

I have one in very good condition with no punctures iirc....£25 posted?
And I wouldn't use chupas in anything other than dry/gravelly stuff! Mine had me off without warning and I couldn't kneel down for a year....that messed my tiling up, good and proper!

Re: Anyone broken a Brooks Cambium?
I was one of the original testers for the c17 and mine failed after about 5000 miles....I just rang them up, they put me through to the workshop, and a lovely old fella sent me a new top and new bolts!

If you are near London, mario vaz is very reasonable....used to work for a lot of quality frame builders in the past....his brother winston uses the workshop too and used to build for top marques....

Re: Grippy 29 Plus Tyre
I really must disagree about chupas in mud....slippy clay in particular....they will attempt to kill you dead! I've just fitted a pair of black chilli conti mountain kings in a 2.4 flavour to my trek stache, and they work flawlessly on the mulefut rims, and can go to 11-12psi without any obvious sig...

Your existing headset will be fine....I've got straight steerer forks on my tapered headtube bike. You just have to fit a reducer crown race. Mine is a chris King headset, but I have a hope reducer race on it and it's fine.

Re: new to tubeless advice sought
Another top tip, assuming you have Presta valves, is to replace one of your dust caps with a shraeder adapter. If you have a catastrophic failure when out and you have to take the tyre off the bead, you can seat it again using a petrol station air compressor. This has saved me twice, and I have had ...

Re: 650B+ or 29+
The weight thing is a myth with chupacabras on my trek.... They are very leightweight and spin up a treat. I notice the wind a lot more on it, but the levels of grip (when the surface is right!) and the ride more than make up for it! I know ton tried the stache and found it flexy, but for me, coming...

Re: 650B+ or 29+
Yeah, it makes sense.... To be fair, I've been thinking about a set of 650b+ wheels for my stache for winter duties, so I can equip them with some dedicated mud tyres and still have decent clearance.... It's annoying, as I bought the stache for winter mud plugging duties and to keep my spearfish nice!

Re: 650B+ or 29+
I've got a spearfish too, which I love! I've also got a 29+ Trek stache, that I love equally! I'm a bit concerned about the apparent lack of tyre choice too, but can't help thinking that 29+ is a better bike for what I do....long distance (relatively) XC stuff, as opposed to any jumpy, technical, bo...
