Re: Midge avoidance tips where to sleep?

I used some life systems expedition 100+ spray the other day as was getting eaten alive. I can imagine its not much good for you to sprat insecticide on yourself but I didn't get bitten again over the whole weekend...

Re: Food for a long ride

I've been modding a basic recipe for breakfast bars from Nigela lawson. The basic recipe is below and as you can see they are pretty stacked with protein, sugar and fruits and oatz as standard so should make great energy bars. As extras I usually throw in some vanilla whey protein powder as well, so...

Re: Off road routes with a dog

I've just bought an alpkit delta tent and I'm planning on using just the outer as a shelter for me and the dog. The delta is similar to my solace and to be honest I'd take the inner for most of dartmoor at this time of year. You'll be thankful for the net. Failing that exped used to sell a no-see-u...

Re: Off road routes with a dog

Hey Joe. Thank you for taking the time out and for writing this, much appreciated :) It's always good to put a disclaimer as not everyone reading this thread will be experienced with the outdoors and its not really patronising as its a good reminder to even those that are experienced that we sometim...

Re: Dirty videos?

Oh good plan. Night in, couple of beers and some mountain biking videos. Inspiring. Thanks for the links, should be some quality viewing there. Although I have nothing to contribute on bike packing I did find this mountain biking video a while back in glorious HD http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n8sGLTr...

Re: GPS Again

I'll second what CM says ... no trouble with mine, just plug and play. I'm actually thinking of buying another sd card of somewhere really bizzare to help me appear interesting ;) Yep, mapping is legit. Comes branded as a Garmin product, though I guess it might be a copy. Plugged in the card and wo...

Re: GPS Again

Garmin maps for £22.46 link http://gb.ioffer.com/i/2012-garmin-gb-discoverer-1-50k-full-coverage-127349741 Are these maps really legit? as they retail elsewhere for £199!? Just seems too good to be true? I just bought a etrax 20 and must admit I was massively disappointed in their so called base ma...

Just back from a few days up there with Perrin the wonderhound - bit knackered now but will post over the w/e with a few corkers! Joe Thanks Joe, That would be great. I've just got back myself, had a bit of a hike about yesterday up near Bovey Tracey, was really good weather for it, but maybe a bit...

Re: Solo bivi rides

I tried my first bivvy 2 weeks ago after receiving my brand new bivvy and down sleeping bag. Was very exited to try it out. Packed all my gear into a small backpack and headed out in the van to a local beach with the dog. After a little walk to my camp I set up my bivvy (well throw it on the sand) a...
