Re: Welsch C2C GPX
Or was it down to the fact that Dave's English....... I am pretty sure racism came into it. She was talking to me in english then making asides to her kids in Welsh. I can tell you for sure if you can translate " Watch me make this sweaty pillock cry a lot as I send him on his way " into ...

Re: Welsch C2C GPX
Cheers Ian, I'm a bit of a nancy where RoW's are concerned and maybe a little too cautious, mainly due to ending up in long dead ends in the past. Hence I bailed off the route after noting some other sections that did not have OS grade RoW status. Actually made for a great, but weird, C2C. Day 1 cla...

Re: Welsch C2C GPX
Yep, the landowner was adamant that I was going no further. I showed her the map and the main road diversion it would entail, she did not care and got quite "heated" that her family owned the mountain and no cyclists were going to set wheel upon it. To be fair there is a great big sign pri...

Re: Welsch C2C GPX
Composite, where did this route come from http://www.composite-projects.co.uk/route/wildcat-wc2c/ ? I had to abandon it at Blaenau Dolwyddelan as a farmer turned me back from going down a private track on his land, he appears to be right. Looking back through the route I realised that it is cheeky a...

Re: LLandudno Kip Options
Thanks all, ended up in Conwy mountain area, rode up there in the dark and had a fantastic bivi overlooking the sea with only wold horses for company. The beach areas were far too busy and it mean that the next day started mostly downhill. Sadly there is another very dodgy video to follow soon.

LLandudno Kip Options
Anyone know the Llandudno area well and can recommend a decent place no more than a hour out of town south'ish for a bivy?
I've never ridden there before and wondered whether it would be feasible to do a night on the beach next to Conwy Sands

Re: Another HT550 Video
Mum's operation went to plan. All cancer out but sadly she's stuck with a colostomy, small price to pay. My plans have changed a bit, the drive to Blair Atholl would be a struggle in a tight timescale, so I've got a train ticket to Llandudno instead, a vague idea of a route and am off tomorrow. I sp...

Welsch C2C GPX
Has anyone got a GPX of the Welsh C2C route completed by Dave Buchannon here http://www.davebuchanan.co.uk/gallery/wc2c-maps/ and mentioned at http://www.selfsupporteduk.net/?
I'm being dead lazy as transcribing the maps will take me forever.

HT560 a (long) blog
OK so you've seen the film now read the novel. I typed up my HT560 experience over a couple of train journeys so it is quite long I'm afraid. Hopefully you'll find it reasonably interesting and empathise with some of the mistakes/incompetence/feelings/highs/lows and general ace-ness of bikepacking c...

Can't see rubbing disk brakes in the equation either? Or the "mince" factor.I assume air resistance is negated for that, as that increases as a square law, whereas that appears to have friction, but only from a static point of view...(I think)

Re: Another HT550 Video
You should do it again with chamois cream and sudo cream as you clearly have the abilty to do the whole route I'm going to. But let's be clear as I say in the video the arse was a secondary excuse (also I was creamed to the hilt, it was the shorts that caused the problem). I need to get my head rou...

Yep, it is "Swamp Thing" from the Strange Times album. Also Cake, Operation Ivy and Stereolabslarge wrote:Please tell me that's the Chameleons..... One of my favourite bands from the 80's that I haven't listened to for 25 years. Where's my record player?
Great video!
