Re: Backup Tube for Tubless

Tubeless worms are the business. I use the Weldite kit which is surprisingly hard to get, lbs has never heard of it. One of my tyres has 4 worms in it and still going strong including one in the sidewall. So easy to fix a puncture and no wheel removal needed

Re: Fat bike - anyone regret it?

Paul at the Shindig convinced me that they can do anything normal. Did not seem to slow him up the hills or on the road.

Non-droopy torch mount

I've got a really good cree torch that I use for night riding but the bar mount is one of those double velcro strap things and eventually droops.

Is there anything better out there or a decent homebrew solution? And no jokes about homebrew causing the droop please, I've had a long day.

Graham

I'd not thought of the height thing so maybe I could never ride one (5'8") but the article could work if I can come and watch you try. I am not far from you so if you are happy I'll PM you.

Cheers
Dave

Re: Penny Farthing

Thing is I really need someone who knows how to ride one and has an original as this is the predicate for the piece I am writing. Freda is lovely but I suspect she does not often throw her leg over a penny farthing.

Re: Penny Farthing

Thanks Ian but it needs to be the proper one. I might ask Freda at the cycling museum in Llandridnod but I doubt their insurance would go near me.

It will definitely be filmed. I've ridden a unicycle before, how hard can it be?

Penny Farthing

Massive shot in the dark here.

I need to ride a penny farthing in the name of research for an article I am writing (FFS first ever sub 24 double century recorded was on one...how!) I don't suppose anyone on here has one or knows of someone who could let me have a go?

Can we have:-

- the sound of pissed chavs ranting stolen motorbikes instead of wolves
- a proper beard
- a keg of real ale instead of a single poncy can
- Ainsley Harriots cous cous out of packet
- pissing rain
- thick brummie accent for the voiceover

Re: BB200 - plan of attack/kit.

My plan:-

-shove lots of stuff in the car Friday PM in a mad panic after work
-assemble some of it onto the bike Saturday whilst mourning that left behind
-head off into the unknown hoping that I don't die
-arrive back at the start in time to collect my pension
-swear at Stu

Re: Hike a bike - your view

I did Ben Nevis once on a Saturday, rammed with three-peakers. Carried to the top and bottom, oh how I laughed all the way. But sat here I'm strangely glad I did do it as I can claim my place in the top 1% of fecking idiots of all time.

The Shindig 2014 - A video

Ok, you know what to expect. Seriously dodgy hand held camera work, amateur editing, dated music, swearing. Here is my video diary from the Shindig event kindly organised by zigrat. Write up to follow when I get a little more time. https://vimeo.com/106395266 Thanks to all who rode with me and made ...

Re: New compact camera with short movie capability

Main advantages of compact over phone for me are:- a) I can carry spare batteries and not have to fanny about with charging pack mid ride b) spare SD cards so endless capacity c) no fannying about with lock screens d) proper zoom, not optical e) works fine in gloves f) can't be interrupted by my dau...

Re: New compact camera with short movie capability

I use a Canon S110 because I love the stills it produces and cannot be arsed with camera/bar mounting. My style of filming is exceedingly dangerous and not to be recommended as one handed riding often has its consequences. I find it so simple though to hoik the camera out of a strap mounted holster ...

Re: Shindig Discussion

It was an ace event, top top marks to Bryan for organising it and everyone else for just being fab. The northern loop worked for me as I was in a bit of a rush to get home the NCN section on the West was not exactly gnarl to the max. This was made up for after Aberfoyle on the way back to Milngavie,...
