Re: Singlespeeding it over winter

I was tempted by the Middleburns as I used to own a Duo, but the crankset is a lot pricer than I remember.

Singlespeeding it over winter

I am building up my old Chameleon ready for the dreadful weather and am going to SS it. I've got just about everything lying around the garage but though I'd treat myself to a single crankset up front. Can anyone recommend anything? Also in the old days I did this using a BMX chain, has it all moved...

They freeze well. I bought a large number from CRC a while back for silly money as they only had a month to go.

Re: want to go tubeless

If its this hard to get a seal at home iv got no chance on the trail So far I have never had to reseat on the trail, I have managed to fix nearly every puncture with a weldtite kit and get the tyre back up with a normal pump. I cannot recommend these kits highly enough once you get the hang of them...

Re: Looks like bikepacking has gone mainstream

Go Outdoors is full of cycle tat and has stores everywhere. Yet people still buy decent kit online from the right suppliers. The seatpost strap on my Wildcat Tiger convinced me as I reckon it must take a lot of force over time attempting to negate the swing. Not convinced by those Blackburn straps, ...

BB200 Photos

Would anyone on here who posted pics mind if they got used in an article (online/paper) covering the BB200. I have someone interested in my piece but I took bugger all pictures. There's no cash in it I'm afraid, I'm getting nowt.

Let me know if I could use some of yours

Re: Lessons from the BB200

I'll add a few things to a lot of the excellent advise above:- 1) when things go wrong, stop take a deep breath and control the urge to rush any repair of remedy. I broke my light mount and subsequently fecked up a cable tie repair losing 10 minutes to a solution that ultimately didn't work at all. ...

BB200 Water borne dodgyness

On Saturday I ran out of water on the Bwlch climb to Barmouth and stopped at a stream at the top to fill my bottle. I put a chlorine tablet in and did not drink anything as the instructions said "wait 30 minutes". At Barmouth I emptied it out and refilled it with juice instead but stupidly...

Re: BB200 - Spectators Corner

It was a bit off route, trust me to no advantage. I veered too far left then had to thrutch back across more tussocks and climb over a wall ended up prolonging the bike-a-hike.

Re: Garmin Dakota, recording a continuous track

Right, I can see what has happened. The stitching has stripped the "stopped" segments which explains the super speedy zip over hike-a-bike as I was (effectively in the eyes of the GPS) stopped a lot. I'm therefore hoping I'm still allowed my A493 Kom as I did not stop and analysing the seg...

Re: Garmin Dakota, recording a continuous track

Entirely possible as I had to stitch two files together to make one. I wonder if Strava is somehow compressing the segments as a result.

BUT I am not having it that I didn't ride the whole course as there were plenty who heard my swearing at the key points of hell throughout!
