Gravel bike for the laydeez

Sorry for saying gravel bike, forgive me. But I am looking for something for Helen to have her first off road dropped bar experience on. So far the best I can find is Pinnacle Arkose 1 but £800 is a bit too spendy this time of year when I basically earn nothing. Any other ideas, she is flipping small?

Re: Volume 8 Cordillera available.

Firstly, thank you Greg I put my heart and soul into that book as a tribute to the riders who I found so inspiring. But I get my fair share of slating, some of my reviews read as if I raped the critic's cat whilst simultaneously smashing their 50" television to pieces with their grandma. Howeve...

Re: The post man's been ...

Apidura seatpack for Helen I don't understand the incredible level of market penetration achieved by this brand so quickly. Their stuff is stylish, but not cheap nor significantly different to the many other offerings. Perhaps it's the level of sponsorship they have engaged in, although it's bizarr...

This way means you can do it without taking up a USB port and gives faster map loading

Yes, it will load them when you plug the GPS in or there is a hack where you can copy them to your computer via a disk mount pretending to be a garmin

Re: Getting bike to Hook of Holland

Yeah in hindsight it's not too bad. But when we pissed-up-booked it we were thinking nearer £100.

Next question, is it relatively easy to cycle out of the port and Hook of Holland? I've planned a route using a Dutch cycle route planner which has hopefully got us onto quiet paths/roads.

Re: Getting bike to Hook of Holland

We don't have enough time for the Dunkirk option so I've sold one of Helen's kidneys and booked the ferry. Just need to tell her now.

ps. Chew I have some books sat on my desk that I should have mailed you about 3 months ago

Getting bike to Hook of Holland

in a moment of pissed-up-ness myself and Helen bought tickets to see the Toy Dolls in Arnhem in 2 weeks time We've decided to cycle there and back from the Hook of Holland as a penance for our alcoholic ways but the ferry option is looking quite expensive. We need to be there Saturday AM and the Fri...

The "Graveyard" is in this view it is the copse that is led to by the short branch off the clear track. You can also see the bunker in the view. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.5196674,-1.6937224,1149m/data=!3m1!1e3 Liddington Hill is the copse in the centre of this view. It doesn't show...

Liddington Hill, Wayland Smythy are two good spots my end of the Ridgeway...but not in Berkshire

I can also point you to "The Graveyard" that Mike and Ione found, not sure I'd bivy there though.

Re: Films - what would you like to see?

I rarely make it to the end of a cycling film. But "Ride the Divide" did it for me (apart from the dodgy Alan Goldsmith takes) as it was just about the right balance of drama, scenery and making me think I could *possibly* attempt it myself. In bikepacking there are mega-heros and ordinary...
