Re: Fancy racing in Israel?

I was bang up for this but we might be going to Canada now instead. Good thing is my mate there works for Norco so we'll go ride the north shore hopefully on some spanky new demo bikes. :)

Re: The BB 200 Thread

However, one that is bothering me - that track past the roman camp - is it a hellish bog fest? There's 2 tracks over there ... the N route is quite obvious on the ground but isn't the official BW and not shown on all maps. The S route which is shown as a BW is harder to follow. As far as the BB 200...

Re: GPS choice for a luddite

I use a Garmin 800. I like bikehike to plan routes as being able to switch between the types of maps so easily is great. Also as my garmin uses 1:50 000 maps so it's good to plan on that scale map as well, as you are at least slightly familiar with how it looked. I used to use getamap more and altho...

That would be a good date; would work out as my first race of the season. :)

On the other hand it's the mrs birthday that weekend.. I'm sure she'll understand...

Re: If there were a UK 'gravel race' ...

Well it was 100miles that caught my attention. I guess a longer 200-300miler would be on if done as a multi day thing.

EDIT: When I say multi day, I mean unsupported of course. :)

Re: What bike are you riding for the BB200??

I'll probably be on my P7 (steel HT 26er) but if I can get the wheels built in time it might be the first proper run out for my new carbon 29er.

Re: Mid-Wales to the Peak?

I have a lump of route that would get you from Kinghton via Long Mynd and to Much Wenlock. It goes all the way to Barnt green but you wouldn't want to go that far East. Mike (yetiman) and I did Barnt Green to Church Stretton and back a few months ago. We planned the whole thing but ran out of time (...

Re: Ultimate bike?

I was weighing up the options between the 29er Reba 100mm and SID 100mm for my race bike and just couldn't see why the SID was worth the extra. I went with the Reba RLT in the end. Considering getting the RTC3 option added. The Reba and SID are pretty much the same weight as well.

Re: Fancy racing in Israel?

Was thinking of flying into Tel Aviv on the 15th and book a flight to go back out on the 26th. So allowing 8 days to race (but hoping to be quicker than that) and then a day or 2 contingency. Is this similar to what other people were thinking? Never done this type of trip before. :?

Re: Dynamos and powering stuff

So I lost track of this thread and it went on some. Thanks for the extra info. I decided to go with the SP hub and have pre-ordered the PD-8X which is the new 15mm axle version. It should be out in October. It also has some efficiency improvements and less drag than the QR only version. http://www.c...

Re: Fancy racing in Israel?

Wow this looks incredible. I was hoping to get an international trip in next year and as 2014 is the year of me really getting into racing this looks like the perfect trip. Would be great to go out there with a few other UK based guys.

Re: The BB 200 Thread

I'll be planning to get it done in one go, although this will clearly entail getting back at some ungodly hour. Is it acceptable to stay somewhere else the night before (b&b/camp) and then put up a small one man tent (before the start) in the car park field to crawl into and die when I get back ...

Re: BB 200 - training or winging it?

I want to start doing endurance racing next season so I have been training a lot with that goal in mind. I'm in the Manx End to End at the start of Sept. so I have been training for that as I'm looking for a decent time. Got 3-4 100milers planned for between that and the bearbones so I guess you wou...

Re: cane creek bar ends?

I have super star grips with mine. The bit that the bar ends grip to is a bit long and there is a small gap which is has no bearing on use but is slightly annoying when you look at it. Planning to trim but not got round to it so can't be that annoying. http://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/...

Great effort fella well done.

Can you not pull the file off the GPS unit via the computer and upload it to Garmin connect/ride with GPS etc?

Not quite Knighton & Back

This is pretty much a copy and paste from my blog, so some of it may seem a bit odd in the context of it appearing in this forum.
