I got into drinking green tea at work as you don't need sugar and milk for it...I don't hardly have any other hot drinks now. Gives you your caffeine fix too.
I either use Tetleys or Teapigs...I've tried most others, a lot of it tastes like it looks though!

Re: The humble dry bag - much used, not often discussed
Exped - They were the first ones I ever bought and I haven't had to buy any since. They sit in the bottom of my pack while mountain biking, keep important items dry while bikepacking and look like new after putting them through the wash. They might not be the lightest, but they're not heavy either.....

Some of you lot will buy anything! A bivvy bag that's not waterproof and not as breathable as it should be, oh! I must buy some of those right away! :?

Re: Which cycling shorts
The pads in the higher-end Gore shorts keep their 'paddiness' for a long time. I use the Alp-X bibs and although not cheap they are my favourites. So much so I've now got quite a few pairs and won't be trying any others unless they stop making them!

I'd stick with Exposure too, you'd miss them if you choose something with a separate battery pack. I like it that you can now charge other gadgets up from them too. I'll be upgrading my Maxx D to a newer one as soon I've some spare cash. I'd considered the Diablo and the 3-cell battery as a stand-al...

I've use an Evernew one the same as what you're after. I had to order it from the US, but I see Ultralight Outdoor Gear are now selling them. They're £45 on there. I'm sure I only paid £30-odd for mine including postage, I did have to wait a few weeks and I did struggle to find someone in the US who...

You're on a slippery slope now that you've got the scales out!
Is it a Southern thing, this fresh produce on bivi trips? You're eating better whilst out, than what I do at home!

Oh do you think so? It'll be strapped into a Wildcat Mountain Lion harness so shouldn't move about much, though I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Sorry, I thought it was a stand-alone bag when I saw the velcro loops and the front pocket. Looking at the pic of the other customers though, the...

Liking the cuben goodness! You should maybe have had a patch of Cordura stitched to the back of the bar bag though...the cuben will soon wear through if it's touching anything.

A Short Packing Example Video.
Hi,
I saw this video from Scott Felter (Porcelain Rocket) on STW earlier. Here it is for those that haven't seen it, his kit list is on the site too.

Re: 10 speed chain
You can use either on a Shimano drive train. I'm not sure what a Shimano chain would be like on Sram though. The Shimano chain is one-directional, I'm not sure if this would mesh with the Sram teeth as well? I prefer the Shimano ones, as I think they last longer. I carry KMC split links instead of j...

Re: Hooded Base Layers?
How warm a top are you wanting (merino weight)? Chocolate Fish have some 260gsm ones. Ibex make a lighter weight one, but you might struggle to get one in the UK at the mo. If you don't mind ordering from the US/Canada, there's a discussion about hooded base layers on Backpacking Light too. Edit: Ju...

If you need some desperately, could you not buy some new ones? £115 for alloy bars is a bit steep but when compared to the price of the Ti ones, they seem cheap.
I think Sideways Cycles might have some in stock.

Re: multiple maps on a garmin query
Does the GPS have a memory card slot? On my Garmin Edge 605, I put the maps I wanted for Spain on a different memory card. Maybe you could put all the files on one card? I know mine only takes cards up to 2Gb and the whole of the UK just about fills it.

Re: Alpkit Framebag Launch this weekend
I think if you're wanting a basic, triangular bag they're fine. If I was wanting the divider and map pocket though, I'd buy a Wildcat one instead...the Alpkit doesn't seem to have some of the same finishing touches and doesn't allow any other custom options. I don't think it even has the option of a...

I was about to find out! I'm selling my frame and fork in the classifieds though...not working at the mo, so having to get rid. I don't know if I haven't had much interest in it because it's 650b or folk haven't heard of the brand? The biggest obstacle for 650b has been tyre availability. That's sta...

I wouldn't want/need to carry a bigger pot than what I'm already using. I know what you mean though, maybe I should try using a trivet and separate windshield instead? I don't really have a problem with fuel effeciency at the moment, has I've only been doing one-nighters. It doesn't take long or use...

Re: Complete Cook System
I don't know how much help this will be to you, as I only use my DX set for boiling water. I bought it because it's reasonably lightweight, a neat setup and has the option of using different fuels. That said, I've only ever used it with the meths burner...mainly because I haven't been on a long enou...
