I believe the English language may have a new verb -

Janed - to reduce enjoyment or light hearted pleasure with excessive concern with details or rules.

Re: OT question for the over 50's.

To be honest I'd be disappointed if there wasn't a lot to reflect on after 50 years. I have my memories but I try not to dwell on them, I plan for the future but I try not to get ahead of myself. If there's one thing the last year has taught me it's to enjoy today as much as possible.

Re: Topical Article By A Woman Who Bothies Alone

As a man I can never understand a situation from a woman’s perspective but I can try and I want to be aware of the issues so that I can try to lessen them. As many have mentioned communication starts a long time before we say anything, facial expressions, posture, gestures, personal space all have a...

Re: Living a meagre existence so you dont have to work ?

After everything that's been going on recently and a bit of a health scare a few years back my partner and I have started to rethink our view about retiring, rather than asking can we afford to retire, we are now ask can we afford not to retire. Doing the sums at the moment and working out what do w...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

Is there room to squeeze in another 90kg. Since March last year I've been the carer for an elderly parent and between that, work and everything else that's going on things have literally gone pear shaped. There's been an increase in weight but disturbingly what was there already has moved about and ...

Re: Your favourite moments?

In no particular order - Walking a bike onto a calmac ferry, any journey that includes a ferry trip is always an adventure. The smell of a forest on a wet morning, even better if there's also some low lying mist The look on the faces of early morning walkers as you're coming down a mountain as they ...

Re: Broken Riders - Joining The Party (Long Read)

You’re not defined by what happens to you but how you choose to deal with it. This is so important and a great lesson for life and far better than the one I may have passed on to my children - ‘No way is my obituary saying - I died cooking Bolognese’ Let me explain, 5 years ago things changed for me...

Re: A question about lights

If I'm using a reflective jacket I'll clip a small led light to the handlebar pointing at me and another to the saddle to shine on legs. I think they're about 15 lumens so after a bit of adjusting to get the angle right it lights you up but doesn't affect your vision. should have added this is in ad...
