FS: Trailstar copy, Salsa bottle cage

Got a couple of things: AliExpress Trailstar copy tarp. Green colour, comes with a (too small) stuff sack and original guys only, no pegs, no poles. Great condition, only used twice, I just prefer a tent. Think they're about $60 new + a few weeks wait, I'm looking for £30 posted. Salsa side entry wa...

Bar end plugs

I'm a Bikeability instructor and fortunately we've been able to start up again in a small number of local schools. A usual problem we have during M checks is missing bar end plugs, so I'm looking to purchase a qty of cheap, plastic plugs that we can just quickly whack in to the handlebars and not wo...

Quick-link tools

Can I ask what folks use for quick link removal when out on a longish trip? Previously I've successfully used a leatherman and some gear cable, but occasionally the link is pretty 'stiff' so this technique doesn't work. Do I need to carry quick-link pliers with me, if so can anyone recommend a good,...

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

So over the weekend I installed the 11-42 cassette, along with the Sunrace extender and a new 10speed chain. With just a few minutes tinkering (and I'm no bike mechanic), it was quite happily going up and down the gears with the Tiagra mech. On the road test, it was a bit sticky when I move into the...

On gear hangers...I used a suntour one from spa cycles...£6! Had to file it just a bit as the cage was fouling it when getting into the 11 tooth. But twas 10seconds work.
Is yours the same as the one in the link bluebus200?

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

OP, You appear to have the ought the same cassette that I've been using for nearly 2 years. Mine works fine. Re: Gravel Gearing....again

Won't work with tiagra shifters if that's what you have. Shimano mtb and road isn't interchangeable. 10spd tiagra is the same cable pull as 11spd Road derailleurs, but 10 and 11 spd mtb are not compatible with road stuff unless you get a cable pull converter like a wolf tooth tanpan or a shiftmate....

Hopefully this link works 👆, but this mech claims to be compatible with 11-42 cassette. Should be ok, or would I still have issues with my chainset?

Just wondering why a goatlink won’t work, is the hanger an odd shape/design?
When I checked the Wolf Tooth site, it says it's not compatible with the current Tiagra mech, it only works with Shadow+ mechs.

Now I need to work out what i need - new rear mech/new cranks....!

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

thanks for all for the comments, much appreciated. i'm probably even more confused now, as there do appear to be a few different ways to get this cassette to work, however they come with possible downsides and likely extra expense. i guess i'm concerned that (1) i'm not a particularly competent bike...

Gravel Gearing....again

Apologies, I know this has been done before, but I'm struggling to get my head around this... I've spent most of the morning looking at various articles on gravel gearing and changing to a larger cassette to get the illusive easier gears for steeper stuff which I really struggle on. So I went ahead ...
