Re: FS: Singular Puffin Fatbike Frame + Fork

Don't suppose you could use a large Fargo frameset? Immaculate, only done under 100 miles. I bought a medium and it fits perfect, so spare large Frameset?

Re: The post man's been ...

I find the Carbon OG bars perfect as they are, and I do not like over wide bars. So comfy I bought a second set for my other bike straight away. Very similar to Mary Bars, just less vibration coming through. Rotational position of the bars is key to getting perfectly comfortable.

Salsa Fargo 2 2012 Size 20" Large £950

I have a Fargo 2 size Large which has covered less than 100 miles and is absolutely immaculate. I love the Fargo but the size was just a bit too large for me. I bought a medium frameset meaning to swap the parts over but build it up as a flat bar SS and it works for me superbly, so I have this lovel...

Re: 29er+ wheelset

Mart thanks for that link. Great thread. My bike usually has a 90 kg rider on it when it's out having fun, so the overall balance point with me on it sitting in the saddle would be quite different and the change with adding Alfine probably much less. Me being 6 times heavier than the bike! Will cont...

Re: 29er+ wheelset

Still dithering a bit, but son reckons I should try the Alfine since we have not tried one before, plus when he added up the weight of two chainrings, front and rear derailleur, hub and cassette it came to about the same as the Alfine. Could do with advice about wheel building costs. Sam quoted £20 ...

29er+ wheelset

I have a 29er set up as SS and really like it. It is reasonably flat on my daily sea wall rides and seems to suit my pootling along style. Having ordered a Rooster I am thinking more of a bikepacking coastal setup and going west from where I live means steep ups and downs. Ultimately I would love to...

Re: On One OG Bars in carbon

Just ordered a second pair. Once these are gone they might well not buy another batch so best to buy whilst still available. Might just be the start of a carbon fatbike build to replace my Moonie.

Bars have arrived, well pleased. Close to Mary but a tad wider.

On One OG Bars in carbon

Really like the Mary Bars and hoping the OG bars are as comfortable. The carbon version are normally £80 and although the alloy version was reduced, as you clicked on the carbon one it went back up to £80. Until just now. New discount price has been added at £29.99, £50 off. Sometimes when you actua...

Re: Dynamo hub for 29+

I am going to follow BenS tip off and order the SP dynamo from Spa. Does anyone use a re-chargeable head torch as their single bike light and around camp light? As I was thinking it through I realise that I will probably not ride in the dark that much, but will need a re-chargeable head torch every ...

Re: Dynamo hub for 29+

This thread is quite useful, comparing the Shimano hubs with the SP-PD8.

Seems the Shimano gives better output at low speeds, that'll be me, but people like the SP for better looks.

Re: Dynamo hub for 29+

Rooster framesets not here yet but Velocity Dually rims are in the UK and Sam is going to build my wheels for me, so need to make a decision on hub.

Thanks for pointing out Spa so the SP-PD8 at a good price.

Dynamo hub for 29+

Trying to decide which dynamo hub to buy for Rooster. Want to be able to charge phone and run lights separately. Fitting Velocity Dually rims. Son too dear. SP-PD8 around £94 quid but seems that bearing service is a take apart wheel and send hub to Taiwan which is not on. I am trying an Alfine 8 spe...

Re: What bike?

Thanks. Odd really, not really planned, it just happened. I have a large Fargo that I really needed to swap the frame to a medium, and I had a Kona Big Unit covered in lovely bits that was just a bit stiff at the back end for my back issues. Whilst I was planning other things the medium 2014 Fargo f...

Re: What bike?

Thanks for putting that up for me. Yes, love the Bomb Pop Blue! It's just so comfy, combines all the comfy bits from my other bikes, Ti Brooks, Thudbuster, soft set Fox forks converted from 80mm to 100mm, Mary bars, it's own high stack and correct top tube. Not ridden any other of my bikes since bui...

Re: What bike?

I built up a 2014 Fargo frame I bought off eBay. Knew it was ok for drops so wanted to try flats, Mary Bars in fact. Worked out great. A medium has 565mm ETT which is the length I rode years ago and suits me much better than the much longer top tubes of today's mtb frames. https://www.facebook.com/p...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Thanks John. Zee crankset ordered for my Rooster build. Paid less than they are going for second hand on eBay. I asked Sam what crankset was best for SS and Zee was his advice, so well pleased. Will match with Alfine 8 or run SS.

Genesis launch Longitude

Takes 3" tyres with just a single chainring on the 35mm rims it comes with. Looks good at £999.
