Flask for a tenner https://www.bananaindustries.co.uk/products/copy-of-bottle-for-life-32oz-990ml Comes with three free pairs of socks too. Got the flask last month and using it for water, works well for that. No idea of how well it works for hot drinks. They’ve also got 15% of sunglasses and socks,...

Re: What are you listening to now?
Listened to the new Kings of Leon album twice, it’s not going to be classic is probably the most pleasant thing I can say!
First ten seconds started promising but went quickly down hill, maybe two half decent songs but that’s it

[tongue in cheek] I’ve heard good things about Sonder bikes Shaf, have you suggested one of them? [/tongue in cheek] Maybe something like this https://www.evanscycles.com/brand/pinnacle/arkose-1-gravel-bike-915759 £800 for a gravel style bike (or even a road bike) is limited budget as the brakes/shi...

Just interested on where people draw the line with adventure. Used to think it was just going out all day doing something fun, then thought it was something that happened to you whilst out (ie unplanned) but now thinking it’s more type 2/type 3 fun behaviour (ie feeling uncomfortable whilst out/pus...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
It's a cheery Friday (well, Saturday) for me as I quit my job last week and don't really plan on getting another one any time soon. Was pretty high stress (senior management level) and in a difficult subject (investigating child abuse) and my cortisol levels weren't doing me any good. I decided to ...

Another 4 day weekend starts at 6pm today
No plans yet though
Did see a bloke out in the country lanes of Nantwich yesterday on a penny farthing! Braver than me on some of those roads, certainly put a smile on my face seeing it

If she’s got a bike already, how about a turbo trainer instead? Plenty about on the second hand market too, so wouldn’t cost £££ Would probably just need to change the rear tyre and then you’re good to go

Trying my best to get around the swear filter  Following on from the ‘Is this bikepacking’ thread https://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=24454 What is an ádventure? See it loads on people selling trips/rides etc saying ádventure guaranteed, have an ádventure with us etc etc

Never realised Zinn’s books were still going, had one from maybe 20-25 years ago and it was full of lovely (I assume hand drawn) diagrams. Was just lovely to read as a book (which is probably the reason I’m a rubbish mechanic, as I never got past the reading stage of the book )

Re: If you could recommend 1 gravel route - what would it be?
The lost lane book series by Jack Thurston are worth buying, some good gems in his books. Not gravel as such but nice, quiet back lanes with some off road. The Wayfarers route in Corwen/Llangollen way is worth a ride, probably not the best route out there (but I like it) but feels ‘pilgrim like’ rid...

Will they be used on the bike as well? If not and it’s for walking, then something like these Salomons are good.
