Re: Taking a knife to a gunfight.
Quite simply if I have a road ride and want some off road options the gravel bike comes out (in my case a CX bike...). There are many people who do this, most of my old roadie compadres have bought one for said reason. As a result they are then straying into bikepacking. This! Worked in bike shops ...

Re: Taking a knife to a gunfight.
My next bike will be for gravel. What it will be, I don’t know but want something that can cruise along the roads well but when I see a path that I want to take/explore, then I can ride it. Having road bikes for years upon years, the drop bar appeals to me but looking around, the Planet X Whippet lo...

It’s either satire or a trailer for a much longer film or they’re trying to replicate a car advert (why do car adverts show everything but the car...?!)

Petzl Swift RL: https://m.petzl.com/GB/en/Sport/PERFORMANCE-headlamps/SWIFT-RL Stupidly expensive but lovely gear. Comfy harness, barely moved, despite size and weight (not that much really). Given its size and shape it stands proud of your forehead which might help avoid glasses and glare issues. ...

Re: Time to get revenge on Stuart
With everything going on at the moment, Scotland closing up and it appears Wales is following that too (who knows what Boris will say at 8pm...), I’m more than happy if Stu wants to postpone this event until things calm down (not that he needs permission from me but thought I’d put it out there)

I’ve used Mountain Equipment Pro shell gaiters in the past, works well enough (used them with boots that go past the ankle - Bontrager OMW- not sure if that makes a difference)

One of these https://www.salomon.com/en-gb/shop-emea/product/bonatti-pro-wp-jkt-m.html#color=24738 Picked mine up for less than £100. Seems pretty good but the cuffs are a little baggy and the hood is not quite as good as many alpine waterproof jackets but overall, works well. Also fits over my runn...

Nothing! Personally I can’t see anything return to normal anytime soon, so I’ll continue to ride and run local. When Wales opens its doors, then I’ll pop over and get into the mountains for some day walks.

Re: Simplest/cheapest way to increase the 'cold-temp' of spd boots
Anyone got any simple suggestions until I can afford these . Went out in the Shimano (replacement) MW5 boots this eve and right foot was freezing in just 1 degree C. I put it down to the fact that when I was unclipping I was keeping the right foot locked in. So the cold from the spd pedals was obvi...

They concluded that wind driven rain at 4C were the most likely conditions to induce hypothermia. From my own experiments I can confirm that's the case :-bd I’m glad you said this, one of my coldest rides was in this temperature range. Re: How often do you rebuild/change?
Very rare I’ll change anything in a bike. Perhaps a chain, chainring etc or tyre when they wear out but that’s it.
Got a new bike with 720mm bars last year, so swapped in some new bars in my old bikes as they (680mm) felt too narrow.
