Re: Wahoo Elemnt Roam V1?

Thanks guys. I think I'll give it a try (the v2 option is a bit out of budget for me).

Re: Wahoo Elemnt Roam V1?

Most of my rides are a couple of hours and if I'm on a trip, 8 hours or so, so not very long. I'm assuming you are talking about much longer rides?

Wahoo Elemnt Roam V1?

I need to get a new GPS. I'm fed up with the various Garmin issues (I've owned a few) and fancy a change. What I need is: Simple! Good for following a preplanned route, on or off road. Good battery life. Not touch screen (had issues with Garmins when it rains). Good connectivity for hrm and powermet...

Re: Shocking advice!

It's safe. Shops store hundreds of the things without any special safety measures.
So long as you disconnect it from the stove (duh), and if you don't, the Darwin awards apply. A body temperature canister will burn better on a cold morning, unfortunately they soon cool down.

Great North Trail guide book - free

I've just been given a copy of the GNT guide book, but I already have one. Anyone want a free copy?

Re: Aggression from others spoil your ride?

Another Dolgellau incident, albeit many years ago. We were in a pub with some Welsh (and Welsh-speaking) friends. One of them went to bar and got a bit of grief whilst ordering. Apparently, although they were Welsh speakers, they were from the wrong side of the river (river Conwy that is). Parochial...

Re: Wide fit shoes

Lake do different width fittings. I got some wide ones because I have Morton's neuromas (no, he didn't want them back). Salt Dog cycling were really helpful, and I think they carry the full range of widths.

Re: WTD: rear road wheel 700c,

Thanks Lazarus and Steve. I'm interested in the Hope/Mavic - what rim is it and how much are you looking for? Oh, and what colour (black please  )?

WTD: rear road wheel 700c,

Has anyone got a 700c rim brake road wheel they want to sell? Can be worn provided it has a bit of life left in it. Looking for something reasonably light as it's pretty hilly round here. QR and Shimano 10sp. Thanks

Route advice near Elan Valley

I'm planning a weekend ride for end Oct/early Nov in and around Elan valley. Does anyone know what the trail running north from Gors-Wen to Llanwyrthwl is like? Here https://www.streetmap.co.uk/map?x=295250&y=260494&z=120&sv=295250,260494&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map&searchp=ids&am...

In the interest of scientific enquiry I think you should tap out one of the cups and press it back in at room temperature and report back to us.

Re: New Headset in the Freezer

It does shrink if you freeze it, but not by much. Coeff thermal expansion for aluminium alloys approx 13 x 10^-6. Temp difference +15C to -12C gives total of 27C. Diameter of headset say 45mm... total contraction 0.015mm. So not enough to make much difference with the tolerances of manufacture of pa...

Re: Gravel tyre choices!!

Was riding at the weekend with a mate using Cinturato M 50mm. I was on Vittoria Terreno Dry 47mm. I rolled a lot quicker than him on offroad descents, whatever the surface, but pretty much the same on tarmac (no, I know that doesn't make sense). On a slippery climb (grass and a bit of mud) I followe...

Re: Dry bag question

Thanks for all the responses. It's good to hear that the Alpkit bag is smaller than 14L - I suspected as much. I'll try the Decathlon bag as it's quite cheap.
As for taking too much... I don't think I am, but need to pack some extra food and this is the problem.
Thanks again.

Dry bag question

I've just done a trial pack for a 2-3 week trip I'm doing soon. This is longer than anything I've done before. It turns out I'm a bit short on space in my bags... I've got a Wiildcat saddle pack harness and an Alpkit 13L tapered drybag. The harness can take a bigger bag looking at the length of the ...

Down tube tool kit

Hello, I need a bit of advice... I'm off on a trip along the Great North Trail in the summer and haven't done a long trip like this before. I need to increase my carrying capacity a little and one thing I'd like to do is move my tool kit from my frame bag to a mount on the underside of the downtube....
