Re: Saturday night in North Wales

Bridleways in north Wales, you'd be lucky 😀
North wales lacks Bridleways for 'legal' cycling but tbh I've never had any issues on my exploits ;)

Re: Todays ride

Set off yesterday teatime to reattempt my failed bivvy a few weeks back due to the bad back. Pedalled for a couple of hours last night and then a good ride home today. It all went fine with no further issues  The weather was too good, perfectly clear skies, no wind at all, millions of stars on...

Re: Todays ride

OK, this will be a bit different than the previous pic ^^ After my bout of sciatica which had me using crutches a couple of weeks ago, I managed to get out for a ride. I felt normal once again and a bit wet! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51384591851_aab2300daf_c.jpg IMG_20210817_171919_685 by ...

Re: Bikepacking when you're broken?

I've never been one for big miles. My shortest bike bivvy was a 1.2 miler! I enjoy a rough 10 miler and then quality time at the camp spot. Its not the miles that makes it fun its the camp itself. :-bd

Re: The backlash continues?

Good to know I'm doing it right! It's a tricky line to follow. We've probably all had the question put to us by a stranger on social media as to "Where's that? "Have you got the GPX for that route?" and so on. For a lot of us we simply put a route together based on our experience and ...

Re: The backlash continues?

I’ve basically given up on social media because it just seemed to be populated by numpties encouraging other numpties to be numpties. I read something yesterday written by a Snowdonia NP ranger. Aside from LNT in the physical sense, they also talked about leaving no 'digital trace'. I'm glad people...

Re: The backlash continues?

The way I see it is the NP are trying to do their bit to put off folk from trying wild camping. Snowdonia has had a mahoosive influx of visitors in the last couple of years and this is probably a tactic of theirs to say its a no no to wild camp. It was only a few months back they said they did not m...

Re: Bad back bikepacking! :(

How we feeling now? Thanks Al. I've been on prescription meds the last couple of days and they've made such a difference. I can now put my own socks on! It wasn't pleasant tbh, not nice at all. So glad I was sensible about it and decided to come down off the hill, I expect if I hadn't would have re...

Bad back bikepacking! :(

Here's a film from my bailed trip on Monday.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No09tek0C9w
Turns out its my first taste of sciatica! Not nice at all, been in agony ever since. On 'proper' meds now though. Anyone else experienced this? It came on so suddenly. Can I go back to 'normal'?

Re: Tell me bout NC500

I was fairly lucky with the weather, it was early June 2012 and it felt very 'alpine'. I was cycling a few miles north at the Kinlochewe junction a year later and spoke with a cyclist who had ridden up there that morning, and she said that it was snowing! So be prepared for any weather up there!

Rode up Belach back in 2012 before the days of NC500. It was the Applecross highland games that day but the road just had a few minibuses going up. What a great climb though!

I won't bother posting a pic of my fat bike loaded up as there's far too many on here already. Here's my Croix de Fer loaded up though. Its used for commuting and I should spend more time bikepacking on it but fat bikes are soo much fun. https://live.staticflickr.com/1812/28875055527_7e3991fc21_c.jp...

I used to love taking the kids out in the Burley Bee when they were little (now 15, 16 &18). They loved it too, especially when it got a bit bouncy. I can still here them now making funny noises

Re: Todays ride

I got dropped off in Dolwyddellan yesterday with the intention of a bivvy with fine views into Ogwen valley. Things started off well as I pootled my way along fire roads faffing with the camera. However after a few hours I felt a twinge in my lower back which soon had me in complete agony pedalling ...
