Re: Ford Fiesta, River Crossings, Etc...
I was sure the UCI had standards for fording, proscribed in the grovelly bike bit of their ever evolving regs, so I checked, and indeed they do. When fording, to oount as a ford and therefore grant UCI Ford Points in an affiliated race,, the ford must be 5cm above the rim of a 700c bicycling device ...

Re: Conveyor uplift?
Yeah you see them on the kiddie slopes at ski resorts. As Sean says though, it'll suffer from grit grinding its gears. But something in me goes, like, yeah, I like it. I won't be charging up to use it but if given the opportunity I'd probably pedal up it, like walking along the travelator at an airp...

In the spirit of recommending wot you got, how about the Genesis Croix de Fer? I bought one late last year and I've barely ridden my other bikes since. It's a lump of a thing but very comfortable with brilliant geometry, more braze-ons than I can count and the only thing I want to change on it are t...

Re: WRT 2023 Sold Out?
Trains all booked, so all I need now is a set of GRs to studiously avoid and I'm sorted. Oh, talking of which, last night I had nightmare. Well, it wasn't one of those forgotten-to-revise-for-maths-exam-wake-up-screaming jobs, so more of a bad dream but it was pretty vivid. I realised my WRT train ...

Re: That stupid idea I mentioned ...
Shouldn't be, there's a lot of triangulation going on (even more so with the lump bolted in place) ... think Ducati but smaller. One of my favourite bikes from the 1980/90s was the Honda VT500. Lovely engine. Dreadful handling. Death brakes. But the donk was brilliant for something with abou...

Selling off kit I've been keeping in the hope my kids might again come bikepacking. Nope :| Everything is well used but in good condition. Everything is priced to go but would be happy to discount for a bundle. But no silly offers please as, inspired by Shaf, 50% of proceeds will go to the Syrian ea...

Re: FS: Wildcat (half) Framepack (small/med)
Shaf is that actually one of the older Ocelot frame bags? I can't tell from the photos as they're too big to see on my phone but I'll have it if so and chuck an extra tenner at you on top of the highest offer if it's going to support the earthquake appeal on the Syrian side. I've donated to the Disa...

SOLD: DD Hammock superlight hammock set up
For sale is my DD Hammocks Superlight hammock complete with tree huggers, whoopie slings and karabiners. I bought this for my daughter who used it a couple of times and it's sat in a drawer for about 4 years. I'm throwing in the mosquito net she insisted on too but never used. All up it's one of the...

Re: Protein Suggestions
Back in the hey days of my sad and lamentable rugby career, when I was 100kg of gristle (rather than 100kg of blubber) our coach plied us with egg white omelettes. 6 egg whites and one yolk. Everyday for breakfast. It was actually pretty tasty with some fried shrooms and peppers. There was no scienc...

I'd recommend Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. Yeah, you could always eat more chicken, but if you can't muscle that past the gag reflex, then a whey shake is a good option.

FS: RAB Neutrino vest
I've a large size Rab Neutrino vest (grey on the outside, blue on the inside) that has never been used and which I've just found during a cupboard clean out. I bought for my son about 7 years ago as he didn't want a full jacket but it just sat in his cupboard and was slowly forgotten. Till now. It c...

I'm a Big Brother fan boy and have a Big Bro, which is brilliant and only the second bike I've ever owner that I will never sell. 1979 for me. Aged 14, I think. My mate Warwick and I strapped some sleeping bags and a canvas tarp to our BMX bikes with other kit in backpacks and headed off into the wilds of the Mount Coot-tha trails west of Brisbane. We used to ride the site all the time but fancied a camp out, so we did. Didn't...

Shaf, check out the offerings from Durston. Another US based cottage tent producer around which there's quite a buzz about the off centre design of their tents which provides loads of head and leg room. The X-Mid 1 is "just" US$240, though you'd be stuck with import duties blah blah blah e...
