Re: Bivvy a month 2019

August shows me that it doesn't always go to plan. Not every night out under the stars is a triumph of man or woman against nature. I had picked a spot a few weeks ago whilst out having a van picnic with Mrs Darbeze (Fi). So late Friday night I ventured out a couple of miles down the road to a spot ...

Re: Clear out part 1: Luggage. Reductions and pics added.

Frame bag received safely thanks.

My first frame bag. Looks like it fits a treat too... My set up does make me smile. Every piece of luggage is made by a different manufacturer. Don't think I would make a very good "Influencer", whatever that means

Much appreciated Stuart :-bd

Can I go for the Lomo frame bag if it is still available?

Is £15 too risqué?

I always use a small backpack. Despite what most people say, I like the feel of a bag on my back. I do have a rigid framed 20ltr bag which spaces the bag off the back, so you don't get too sweaty...

F*CK me Dave! That was truly amazing! Seriously, I was riveted. I cannot comprehend how you finished and in such good shape too. Best moments for me? "Sorry Clacton" The way you got on with it despite the hardship. "We're out here riding our bikes. Stop moaning. There are people worse off and having...

Good grief...

Most of us have no idea what hardship is. What an example to us about making the best of what you have, perseverance and making things happen for yourself rather than sinking in a pit of self pity.

A lesson to learn.

Humbled.

Re: Todays ride

Too many tourists down here at the moment. Can’t you northerners take a few more in please. Your'e not wrong Dave. It was definitely a smart move riding up onto Dartmoor last weekend at gone 11pm for a bivvi... Far too many people in the bay at the moment. One of the small inconveniences of living ...

My favourite bike riding related memories are seeing dawn and sunrise after riding through the night.

The only times I have done this have been BB200 rides. A very special feeling daring to believe you are going to make it!

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

I actually managed to get a BAM done before the last day of the month! I almost didn't go when some friends invited me out for a meal on Saturday evening. I had planned to ride onto Dartmoor and bivvi, but also wanted to go out with my friends. So I combined the two as our meal out was on the way to...

Re: What does your perfect event look like?

A lot of great ideas already. I love the WRT and I like the idea of the get together the night before camp, music and refreshments sort of thing. I don't really get to chat to too many people on the Saturday as we are all focused on faffing, sweepstakes and weigh-ins... Don't get me wrong, those are...

I can see why you want to emulate that look... Very nice.

I like a lot of what Velo Orange do. I will admit to wanting one of their porteur front racks.

There! I said it out loud. We can both be judged together...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Last day of the month seems to have become a habit for my BAM. Another local ride in the bay. Took the Summer bag as the forecast reckoned 14c overnight. Felt too cold in shorts and tee-shirt so had to put my gilet on and use my down jacket upside down as a half sleeping bag on my legs. Nice an cosy...

Re: Your bike collection

This thread is a good read... I have the following 3 bikes: Genesis Fortitude Race . Bought in June 2013 just after my first ever BB event, the WRT 2013. Apart from the tyres and some alt bars and grips, it has remained standard. I have taken part in 6 BB200s on it, finishing 4 of them. For that rea...

you're not defined by what happens to you but how you choose to deal with it. True words from the big man there. What a truly horrendous story Richard. I sincerely hope and wish that you get through it completely and are one day able to look back and see that something positive came out of it Si
