Re: HT550 - 2017

Jenny is riding hard, we climbed the Ben Alder singletrack together when I was slowing because of my knee, then she shot off ahead, she's made up a lot of ground since then. Amazing riding.

Neil is ridiculous.

Re: HT550 - 2017

A series of shitness, was ill the day before, heat stroke maybe, plus some nerves. Didn't sleep well. Turned on Garmin at T minus 10 minutes, and the touchscreen was broken. Switched to spare, but that made me nervous. Then after first step climb after bridge of balgie, knee hurt a lot, had to slow ...

Re: ITT Protocol

It could theoretically be faked, but it would be a monumental effort to do it in a way that would withstand scrutiny. Scrutiny! I've noticed several bad tracks over the years on various races/ITTs. I even told the organiser about one recently on a certain150 mile route. He did nothing about it and ...

Re: Plantar fasciitis

I had this years ago Dave. Had to cut off my foot. Luckily I grew a new one, which is pain free. No, seriously, I had it on and off for a few years, but I was quite seriously over-weight then, and the GP said I should lose weight. I lost some weight it helped. This can't be it for you though... Not ...

Re: Time Management

Good subject. Something I've struggled with for years. Have been freelance for over 10 years now, and exclusively working remotely for the past 5 years. It has taken a lot of that time to get the balance right. I spent the first 2 years mostly procrastinating, riding bikes and tinkering at other thi...

Re: How to neutralise shoe stink

I have soaked my shimano shoes a couple of times in water and half a lid of that blue dettol meant to go in the washing machine with minging stuff.

Left them for a few hours, then rinsed and drip dried. Seemed to do the job.

Re: Sawyer in-line filter, any good?

I found MSR replacement filters somewhere, around £28. So very pricey. Still, I have the MSR and the Sawyer, I much prefer the MSR for ease of use. The Sawyer is great until the bag splits (happened to me in New Mexico), but it is a slow and cumbersome process. The fact the MSR can be connected to y...

Same old stuff, same old people. How very tedious for you.

To be fair, you once told me you found the GDBMR boring. So I think that I should maybe take it as a compliment.

I'll shut up now and you can go back to reading the 200th "what bivvy?" Or "which Garmin" thread.

Re: Ideal weight!!

I've gone from 95Kg to 70 Kg over the last 3 years. Climbing gets easier the more you lose for sure. All this power to weight stuff might be useful to some (as a means to spend money on more kit), but in reality, ride more, eat better. If you really want to lose weight, cut out animal products and o...
