Much as I would like to visit Duncan and his part of the world Morocco has always appealed as a winter destination. Can't help with specific advise but plenty of suggestions via people of this parish

That sounds suspiciously like actual planning is going on! I wouldn’t like to claim it in such a definite way  A rough plan is to depart S7/11 area of Sheffield (dore and totley train station is close if coming by train) late morning - 11 ish. "There’s been a September start too for the last couple of years" Only 4 of us (me , Andy ,Crispin and ian) of us showed up for sept start this year. Not sure the loop has the same number of people attending since it was dropped as a qualifier to the bigger events. Still a loop any buddin...

Re: Dynamo lights
I have the same set up as Ian. It's spot on except in one aspect. At low speed off road, climbing or pushing or simply slow muddy stuff the light output is too low for me. This is easily rectified with a helmet mounted light such as a Joystick. I really like the idea of the battery boost option on ...

Re: Dynamo lights
I have the old revo and an Igaro with a switch. You’re welcome to have a look if you are up here some time. Still a few cables around but easily fit in a top tube mounted bag with plenty of room to spare. One advantage of the Igaro is two usb outputs. It will put 500mah from both at about 20-23kmh a...

Re: Seat pack shaped dry bags
Ben, Wildcat do two sizes of tapered bag but I think the larger is the same or only slightly bigger than the Alpkit one. I can check in the morning for you. I did look for something similar a while ago but the only ones I found were kayaking ones to fit in the ends of boats and were much bigger, 30...

Re: Aiguille bikepacking kit
Don't like look of seatpack or bar roll but as I'm in the market for a full frame bag the custom one fits the bill ,it's not the normal vx21 material anybody got any experience how it wears ,I'm presuming their rucksacks are made of the same material It looks like cordura. I’ve an alpkit framebag m...

If you want to oook at some savings. A Linderets Tanpan will allow Shimano 11 speed cable road shifter work perfectly with 11speed Mtb rear mech.
I have this setup working perfectly on my cutthroat (and used the same group set in another bike previously)
A ‘bodge’ I stopped but it works perfectly.

Re: Full size frame bag
For me one advantage of going custom is adding extra width to the frame bag. I have custom bags for 3 bikes and 2 of those are 8cm wide. I found that is as wide as can go with no knee conact. Two made by Beth at Wildcat and the most recent one from Alpkit, its a full frame bag for a salsa cutthroat ...

Re: Super light gravel bike
I've got a 54 ish carbon CX frame (planet x dirty disco with no stickers on) that you can have for £100. Its far from cosmetically pristine but still rides well. It fits a 42 up front but 35 rear. It has been part of a very light build in the past but unridden for a while. I'm not going to race it a...

I wouldn’t personally. My face ain’t that pretty but id like to keep it mostly as is.
There may be ways to do it but there’s a very experienced bike designer and engineer on this thread both saying they wouldn’t. That seals it for me

Peak District winter bivy. On the wrong date! Weekend before
I know there’s a couple of other good folks who may well be keen for a Peak District edition. I’ve identified a nice sheltered spot that’s ideal for multiple occupancy. And has *looks around sneakily* a fire pit  There’s prior arrangements on the ‘proper weekend’ for many of the founder membe...

Re: Yes I know......
Conflicted I am. Did chuckle, but then was dismayed that the underlying message seems to be that ‘only’ a car can save/rescue people, several of them actually, from themselves/the great outdoors. It’s really a damning allegory of everything that’s terrible about the modern world. Yes, your expensive...
