That’s awful Pickers, hope you mend quickly and that they catch and put away those responsible.

Grinduro coming to Machynlleth

After 3 years being held on Arran, Wales has pinched the 2020 Grinduro from us :YMTONGUE: If it's run like the Scottish event has been, it should be a good weekend (although with poorer scenery  ). It always seemed to be fairly expensive as these things go, so it'll be interesting to see if it'...

Re: What you doing next year?

All being well, strapping some racks and panniers on taking a ferry to Amsterdam and wandering in a southeasterly direction for a few months. Sue and I are booked to cross in June, with no other fixed plan other than a European Bike Bus home booked from Orange in mid September. Not bikepacking but I...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Well it looks like my BAM is over for this year. A nice ride out along the coast to a pretty spot with a northerly view and a chance of catching sight of an aurora. Tent went up well. Dinner prepared and eaten. Preparing to settle down at 10pm when the phone rings with an urgent request for help fro...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Another last minute September entry. I'd like to claim that I followed Reg's advice above and left it until the last day to make the challenge more interesting, but it's really just down to procrastination and bad planning. Anyway a quick trip up into the forestry to a little spot I've used before. ...

Warning, the site isn't easy on the eyes
It’s also a bit heavy on the climate change conspiracy theories amongst other stuff.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

August ended up being a bit of a repeat of July, albeit this time with company (wife), a different route and a different bike. We have plans to do a long slow tour somewhere in Europe next year so we decided to dig out the panniers, load a ridiculous amount of stuff into them including a new tent to...

Re: Any Kayaker's? Newbie tips wanted

Just started sea kayaking. We managed to get on a swimming pool course to learn some self/assisted rescue techniques as well as some basic strokes. We’re also going to get at least a day’s training on the water on rescue before we venture too far. We haven't got a bilge pump yet, but we probably wil...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

A sudden rush of family visitors and planned events has meant a shortage of time to get out for a proper trip, so the chance to do a two dayer on the last day of June to get June and July done seemed too good an opportunity to miss (and stay within the rules). The Island of Gigha lies just off the K...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Late April saw me set off from home to Uig in Skye where I was joining up with seven other folk to spend 3 days riding in the Outer Hebrides. Four and a half days of pleasant mostly road riding by way of Oban, Mull, Ardnamurchen and Mallaig saw me to the docks in Uig. https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

With free time being very limited this month my April bivvy ended up being a quick to up into the nearby forestry. I took took a slightly roundabout way to get there to give the new fork, bars and tyres a go with weight on for the first time. Made a few tweaks along the way and then spent an otherwi...

Re-dished my front wheel to centre it in my new Prong forks. First time doing anything like that and surprisingly it seems to have worked.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

With only a few days left before leaving for the long drive home from France, I loaded my bike up with overnight kit, then Sue and I drove up into the hills for a final evening ride and to get the March bivvy in. We rode for a couple of hours and got back to the car as dusk was falling. I’d failed t...

Hope I can still join in without breaking the rules (again). Jan: WE, a fun romp around mid Wales with Reg et al (the longest distance between two points ride). Great riding, company, food, and overnight spot. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7891/33342461628_bf7207a434_n.jpg Reg, with Pandas Feb: Des...

If you pm me your email I'll send the GPX over. Should still be ridable, but some of the non gravel tracks will have a few slightly soggy (maybe very soggy) bits, but we ride them year round.
