Oh God here we go.... Now the maps are cheap and easy to acquire legally (it seems) which is the cheapest device that will disay them..... ;)

Having looked at that site you can get the whole Jones-style set up. I wonder if theirs has a normal front hub/headset arrangement. And if it costs less than £3800..... ;)

Re: Bivvy a month for 2013

Bearings OK, Bivi bag on the Beach at Aldeburgh great! I think I need to put less air in my mat so I fit in the bag better but otherwise no problems. Drifted off to sleep looking at the stars on a beautiful clear night and awoke covered in frost. Much less faff than packing away a wet tent to boot. ...

Just thought. Salsa El Mariachi with alternator dropouts. Triton Cycles have some good deals on Salsa framesets at the moment.

Re: Virtual shopping opportunity

I've got a Swift and a Fargo and both come highly recommended. If you're going to be swapping between drivetrains I'd opt for the swift (got an Alfine 8 on mine) as the EBB makes tensioning a doddle. At 440 for frame & forks that leaves a decent amount for the rest of the build.

I've got one of these that I built up on a Whippet but didn't actually ride.

I can go and measure the steerer if you like. I didn't cut much off as I'm paranoid like that! £100 delivered?

Mine is branded "New Trent". Put New Trent battery pack into Amazon's search and all sort of options pop up. Here's an example similar to mine.

Use the dynamo to charge an external battery pack? I have a battery with USB output I use for my iPhone and Garmin edge 200 on multi-day trips.

WRT query....

I gather the route options will remain top secret, hush hush, mums the word until nearer the time but.....I'd like to book somewhere to kip the night before as per El-an Back that I can dash to straight from work in Suffolk. Would Oswestry travel lodge be as good as anywhere location wise?

Re: So, rigid forks?

I haven't ridden my suspended bike for as long as I can remember with the weather being as it has. It's been nice using my Swift with an Alfine for the lack of upkeep required. Obviously, living in Suffolk means that I don't spend much time clattering down rocky descents but we have our fair share o...

Re: New Garmin etrex 10 worth £90 of my money?

I use a Garmin edge 200 (presumably equiv to the basic etrex) for route recording and general nav following the bread crumb trail. If I need to see where I am I use UK Maps (£7.99 for all of the UK OS maps). If all else fails. Paper map.
