Re: 2x10 update time

My new bike has 1x12 (51/10)

My old 2x10 on the 26 still has a wider range with less gaps (and less unsprung mass on the rear wheel)

Progress eh?

Re: Camera grey imports, would you?

I used Hdew for a canon 70D DSLR a few years ago, it had focusing issues and Hdew swapped it out with no question. I wouldn’t hesitate in using them again.

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera

You can do HDR in older SLR cameras, I’ve been doing it for years Rob mentioned motorsports. I never tried it, but figure bracketing for HDR with moving objects - even playing kids in bright daylight - will not render usable images. Happy to learn from other experiences though. Side note; Modern ca...

Re: Recommend me a decent stills camera

I took my 40D with 24mm prime lens to fountains abbey last weekend but missed lots of shots because I didn't know how to do HDR on it. Luckily my wife used her phone and managed to get them. I really struggled with getting the exposure right, i was constantly having to change (and mostly it was wro...

Big Agnes salt creek sl3 is only £199 on SP

Just a bit over 2 kilos isn’t too bad for a spacious 3 man tent

Not my dogs but I’d be 99.9% confident saying that they are border terriers.

Here’s a Lakeland (mine) for reference

Interesting, airplane mode doesn’t turn off GPS

It does however turn off cellular/wifi so the device has no way of communicating its gps location.

We don't care about weight , never really understood the strap a bag culture Lots of people do care about weight though. It also really depends on the type of terrain you are riding My mate took panniers on a Cairngorms trip, they were an absolute nightmare - his panniers were too wide for some of ...

None of my trips are ever about time on the clock, unless it’s to get somewhere before they stop serving food  I’d imagine some essential items I take would be considered ‘luxury’ items by others - foam sit pad - eye mask - separate clothes to change into for sleeping - earbuds to listen to po...

No, 18650s aren’t readily available in shops (easy to get online though), they are rechargeable though so as long as you take a spare, you should be covered.

Had fish and chips in Gordon’s tearoom/restaurant in Braemar which was decent. This was a few years ago so migh...

Re: Head Torch on Helmet - any Experience please?

I’ve used the Exposure Joystick, Axis and Diablo and wouldn’t recommend any of them. To justify the high price, I’d expect a big improvement on : Fiddly buttons, proprietary charger needed, can’t change battery, average ouput/beam pattern and poorly implemented programming. For the last 3 years I’ve...

This is the route I’ve done a couple of times, it’s the original ‘Tour of the Cairngorms’ route that was in Phil McVanes ‘Scotlands wild trails’ book from years ago (a few years before the Cairngorm loop became a thing):

Re: Tool for removing Shimano centerlock rotors?

That’s not the tool needed though, I linked the Shimano document in the previous post for the specific rotor he has - the part number for the tool needed is shown in the doc (It’s a cassette lock ring tool).

Re: Tool for removing Shimano centerlock rotors?

Looking at Shimanos tech docs for that rotor, the tool you need is the TL-LR15

https://dassets.shimano.com/content/dam ... 2-4842.pdf

This is a standard cassette lock ring tool, not sure what you currently have that doesn’t work.

Didn’t someone on here find some sealant in a farmers shed that worked just as well as Stans but was a fraction of the price?
