Re: Swap? Hope XD for HG

What hub body do you have? I might have a freehub from a pro3 I could swap - not sure about freehub compatibility across the different hub models.

I ‘think’ the pro 3 and pro 4 free hubs are compatible (but not with pro 2 or pro 5)

Re: Tubeless pump?

Lezyne Micro Floor Drive HV mini pump and thank me later I’ve got this pump and whilst it’s great for tyre inflation it’s has some significant design ‘choices’ that make it extremely frustrating to use Screw on valve adapter - screws on to the valve but it’s reversible for presta/schrader which is ...

I’ve also got an 830 and never had any issues with the screen in the rain (it’s seen a lot of rain also)

Re: 27.5 Plus tyre recommendations

Maxis Rekon in 2.8 were pretty good. Loads of traction and surprisingly quick rolling - they are also reasonably light for a big tyre.

I found you need to get the psi spot on though to get the most out of theses tyres

Re: how to convert 142mm x 15mm DT Swiss 350 rear 6 bolt hub to boost standard!?

I use non boost cranks on my Scott genius which has boost rear wheel. These are double cranks but I just use them with a single ring.

The only issue I’ve had is that the max front ring I can use is 34 instead of 36 (the 36 fouls the chain stay).

Re: West highland way

I’ve done it south to north, the descent down from Devils staircase toward Kinlochleven was the highlight for me If you are taking gear and camping then the North section of Loch Lomond is brutal. You can avoid it and take a ferry from Rowadennan to Tarbet and then cycle up the main road to Beinglas...

I did the badger last year and didn't have any issues getting fresh water from taps/shops/pubs/cafes etc. I had a sawyer filter also but never needed it The only real remote bit is between Fort Augustus and corrour station, just make sure you stock up for that bit and you will likely be fine If you ...

Re: Badger Divide - S-N edition.

One of the routes on my list. I have ridden a little section near Drumnadroichit and remember the short, steep climbs. My hope is to have a bit longer and ride back down to Edinburgh on another route which I forgotten the name of as I write (need another coffee). Looks like decent weather as well. ...

Glasgow is the finish, not the start

Kelvingrove is the west end, I don’t think there is any free parking round there, it’s pretty much all metered pay and display or resident/permit controlled

One of these could work https://ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/micro-gripper/ :-bd £11 for something idiot proof is actually not too bad value For another £15 you can get it with the matching pot, cozy, lid and spork https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outdoors-Halulite-Minimalist-Kitchen-Multicolour/dp/B07PB64F9Q

Can’t think of too many situations when I’ve been too bothered by the faff of setting up/taking down a tent - it’s not something I’ve given a lot of thought to.

Living in Scotland, the need for a safe haven from the midge has meant I’ve never really considered a tarp.

Re: What's your single best item you own for camping?

Depends on the type of camping Car camping - Exped megamat, is like sleeping on a normal bed. Bikepacking - Big Agnes copper spur ul1 tent, ticks all the boxes ; lightweight, roomy, small packsize, decent ventilation - only question mark is on its durability (only used it on three trips so time will...
