Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Saw these Sealskinz head gaitor things on Sports Pursuit half price: https://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/1984123 Kind of waterproof, breathable, fleece lined convertible hood/buff/facemask? Seems decent for this time of year. Was thinking I'd use it for walking/kayaking too Gets a ...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

Mental 3 wheel MTB. Only €10000 https://youtu.be/QGy5TB0kkj8 https://www.ascendubikes.com/home What a load of tosh, I particularly like the ‘fact’ that this bike manages to break the laws of physics by requiring less power to ascend the same hill despite being heavier. So crap it’s funny :-bd It’s ...

FS: Garmin Venu - brand new

I have a brand new boxed Garmin Venu I’m looking to move on. RRP is £329. Cheapest I can see from UK retailer is £270 so I’m thinking £220 could be a good deal for some one?

I’ll be sticking on eBay tonight if no interest as I have a £1 max selling deal which expires at midnight

Re: Flat pedal shoe recommendations

Ive given up trying to find a decent winter option for flats and just wear hiking boots now - current decathlon ones for £45 are waterproof, good for hikeabike and grip is decent enough

I missed the lidl bargains completely or would have grabbed them for the lad, he’s 11 now and can’t wait to do more bike camping this year.

Re: Gaiters ?

I got Rab Hunza (mid)gaiters from sportspursuit a few weeks back and they have been great - they are small enough to be unobtrusive and I can now just hose myself down after wet and muddy rides. Think they were about 15 quid but can find them in stock now, maybe discontinued https://www.ultralightou...

Re: Rear mudgaurd picks?

The mudhugger didn’t work at all on my Bandit, the shallow angle of the seat stays meant it sat too far forward and my back was covered in muck after the first ride. When I contacted the manufacturer they said I needed to buy an ‘extender’ for another tenner which would then make their product work ...

Re: Rear mudgaurd picks?

I’ve had reasonable success with the Topeak defender m2 Positives - QR clamp makes it easy to put on/take off with virtually zero faff - the articulating arm means you can get close to the wheel - spares are available to replace bits if the get broken - relatively cheap - not as fugly as most mudgua...

Biked through Balerno last night after a wee jaunt round the reservoirs, could believe the temperature drop coming down Harlaw rd - felt like I’d crossed some unseen boundary into Narnia

Odd location if correct, must be pitching for the student market. Won’t be handy for me to get to from longstone anyway.

Re: Recommend me some.... plus fours?

Due to crappy Scottish weather, when biking I’m currently wearing waterproof trousers, waterproof walking boots and waterproof gaiters.

Its been keeping me dry when riding but also means I can just hose myself down after a wet muddy ride

Granger's spray on dwr and then tumble dry is what Goretex reccomed

The wash in stuff will also apply dwr to the inside of the jacket which can affect the effectiveness of the membranes moisture transport

Re: Similar to Exposure, but not... is there such a thing?

Another +1 for moon. Had the x-power 1800 until my bike got nicked, it was an amazing light for £70.

Parker’s had the x power 1300 on sale a couple of weeks ago so I got it as a replacement. It’s a good bit smaller and lighter than the 1800 so makes a great helmet light and is still plenty powerful.
