Exposure Axis mk8 - got it discounted by £50 on CRC. initial beam test impressions are that it’s not nearly as bright as the Moon x-power 1300 it’s replacing (at double the price). Need to do a bit more testing to decide if it’s compactness is worth the extra expense.

The RAB alpine bivi is currently half price on SP - stated weight is 470g
this is the older ‘event’ version - the newer model is pertex shield and slightly lighter.

My lad has had one of these since he was 10, it was slightly too big for him at the time but it’s bang on for him now at 11 and a half. He’s 151cm tall just now if that helps.

Ok, in that case - Topeak do an adaptor for using their seatbag with a dropper - might be worth a look? Looks like it will allow more travel for the dropper than the stabiliser types.

Was it so you could use a dropper post or just to add extra stability?

Re: Tinnitus anyone ?
I suffer from ‘floaters’ in my eyes and for the most part I manage to tune them out. I guess it’s a similar thing with tinnitus. I do also get a persistent (but quiet) background ringing in my ears from time to time - does tinnitus come and go or does it need to be constant to be diagnosed as tinnit...

Re: The collective hive mind
sounds like a fairly niche thing - it might work as part of a larger ‘outdoor gear hire’ business model but I’m struggling to see how it could stand up on its own (or as part of a small bag making business). Either way you’d definitely want a seat pack to be included which doesn’t seem to be the cas...

The shape is reminiscent of my first gen vango helium. Your face was very close to the sloping wall which lead to a lot of condensation and it always felt cramped. You could fill most of it with your lungs then use the pump to pressure it? I've got the helium - I sleep with my head at the short pol...

The whole concept of the lockdown relies on the majority of the population sticking to the rules.
Im not sure it would be that effective if everyone had their own interpretation on how those rules should affect them.

The link youve posted seems to be for a different mount than the broken one in your pictures?
For the one you've linked, you can get that for 8 quid on Amazon.

Re: Bikepacking tent
We've a Big Agnes Copper Spur and it can be used in "fancy tarp" mode with just the outer and the additional footprint. I've seen somewhere that it is possible to erect it outer first but we've not tried it and running the process through my head it's likely to be a bit of a faff. Nah it'...

Re: Bikepacking tent
I've got a big agnes copper spur ul3 and it's a great tent - I use it for bike camping with the Mrs as the space is fantastic and the weight is a good for a proper 3 man tent (1.7kg). I've only used it a dozen times but I've been really impressed with it so far. When I change my Vango helium which I...

Looks nice but nothing special. I'm not even sure there is a 5" tyre these days. The Snowshoe XL was always touted as the widest but that's 4.8" now and that's been a "common" size for a while. No frame/fork lugs for racks and cages which would put many off. Cost would be intere...

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the edge explore has a much bigger screen than the 520 so if you are primarily interested in mapping, it might be a better bet. DC rainmaker did a good in depth review and also includes a photo to show the devices side by side https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2018/07/g...

Re: Off topic: salmon or mackerel?
I did six months of weekends as a deck boy on a prawn trawler in Moreton Bay when I was 14. They'd always chuck a long trawl line out on the way back and pull in a few big mackerel. There was a small gas BBQ on the boat. Some one would gut and fillet them and stick them on. I'm still pulling the bo...

You also reach a point when going slow up a really steep hill that you start to expend extra energy just maintaining balance on the bike, even more so when it’s a rough/rocky/loose surface

Re: Fiveten Trailcross, any real world experiences?
I spent ages looking for the perfect off road biking shoe/boot and got put off by the high prices for things less than ideal. I gave up on that idea and am currently wearing 40 quid waterproof walking boots from Decathlon, can't really fault them to be honest. The slight loss in grip is more than ma...

Re: Recommend a sleeping mat
Big fan of Exped and although over budget, I've just found an Synmat UL7 for less than £90. https://www.outdoorgb.com/p/Exped_SynMa ... eping_Mat/ Maybe worth noting that this is a 'synmat ul lite', not a synmat ul7 , the rrp for the ul7 is about £150 now . Seems the lite version is 5cm thic...
