Re: Bikepacking 1975
Some 30 plus years ago I bought the panniers and handlebar bag that he designed for Carradice and could never get all my kit in them. I eventually realised that the bulk of his stuff was in a tarpaulin on top of the rack and panniers like a huge dhobi bundle. Got a very good price for the panniers a...

Re: Can you tell what it is?
Bolts to the stem or fork crown to fix a bar bag harness to. Well done that man ... This bolts onto the headtube. The distance between the fork crown and the bars is about 3 miles, so I needed something to take the place of the fork crown for the bottom straps. Is it fitted yet? Can I see a picture...

Bear Paw Designs Lair alteration
I bought Stu's Lair with the full fitted bug mesh because I thought the full mesh a good idea. When I erected it I realised I wouldn't be able to stay in my bag and safely fire up the stove for a brew. If the mesh caught light it would be difficult to get out. Having altered my Hunka to have a bug m...

Bump
Got my spare wheel from a wrecked bike at the local bike project.
Surely somebody can use this down and create an entry for the MYOG thread?

Re: Has anyone ever ridden ...
I met a girl at a Folding Society Origami meeting who does the very long distance randonees (sp?) all over the world on her Moulton. Am I the only one who sees the humour in an Origami enthusiast riding a Moulton? I hope not, you need a sense of humour to be a cyclist nowadays :) All the Fold...

Re: Has anyone ever ridden ...
Yes it's a Moulton. They still make, some of the new ones are stainless but very expensive. I just think they look fantastic, surely the ultimate 20" wheeled bike ;) I like 20" wheels on a road bike. My Dahon Speed TR rides as well as the Hewitt I had built and is less aggro on a train. I...

Swap duck down for whatever
I have a Blacks Icelandic sleeping bag which was the emperor of bags in its day. I bought it in the '70's from a tandem stoker whose pilot/husband had died. I retired it in the late '80's for something lighter and it has been loose rolled since its last use. I expect the cotton casing is quite britt...

Re: DIY bivvy bag bug-net mod'
I tried for as straightforward method as possible for a bug net on my Hunka XL and the result was this: http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn149/nobbysPics/Camping/th_Mesh-net_zps65f6cf01.jpg The aim was a net that would close completely to keep slugs and earwigs out, wouldn't restrict the opening o...

Re: Wtd: Mid layer size L not a fleece
I had a good offer on a Downshirt but after checking in the outdoor shops in Brum today I have realised that synthetic fill better suits what I want.
So I am still looking. Size 44" chest, half or full zip and preferably with a pocket.
Cheers

Re: Wtd: Mid layer size L not a fleece
There's a montane fireball smock in he classifieds section on outdoors magic, that'll door the trick nicely (I have one) I also saw a Rab generator pull on in the sale over Christmas but can't remember where now Thanks for that but Montane seem to size smaller than my Rab and Marmot stuff and I'd n...

Wtd: Mid layer size L not a fleece
Anybody got a mid layer in an L (44" chest) that they have grown out of, or bought mistakenly that they'd like to sell, please? I bought a Marmot Solaris from sillybigfella last year and in this weather it is proving its worth under a shell jacket. I'd like something similar: thicker than a fle...
