This leads to being too cold. I have had most success with one of those waterproof backed picnic blankets and a p...

This reminds me
I recently got 10% added to my wheelbuild bill for saying "26er" within earshot of the Proprietor.
Apparently "Gravelbike" is perfectly acceptable though.

Re: Wheel and tyre sizes

Hi The position of your bars relative to your saddle on that photo reminds me of xc race mtbs in the very early 1990s. Probably great for 2-4 hours fastish riding but a bit grr for day rides. You could put some higher rise bars on.(you will need to fit longer cables and hoses) It's also nice to have...

My do everything commuter/explorer bike has morphed into this after a frame swap and a few visits from the postman.
Off to find a circuitous route to the asian supermarket tomorrow. Need curry.

Re: what do you cook...?

Lunch is normally squashed-whatever-I-packed. Usually peanut butter and honey sandwhiches and dried fruit. Dinner is couscous and dried sausalumps. Prefer chorizo but any will do. Or mashed potato, cheese, and bacon bits. Beer if I passed a shop. Hot chocolate if I didn't May well try corned beef ha...

Re: Exped protection

I have an exped synmat and after puncturing it on some particularly tough vegetable matter I started using one of those cheap n cheerful blue tarps as a groundsheet. It is a 6x4 and slots in between my bar bag harness and dry bag when not deployed.
Prevents soggy knees too.
