No worries. Are they from a surly Wednesday? I thought I saw that in your original post. If they are and you decide to split then let me know. Would be interested as I have a surly Wednesday.

I've been using some shorts by Khul. Very comfy on and off the bike.

Re: What cables for brakes and gears.....

I used bar end shifters in the past. Front was fine but rear gears were a real struggle to change. I'm hoping the move away from bar end shifters and using quality cables will make the experience a more pleasant one

Nice one Ray. Good to get out. I was looking at your new set up. Have you got suspension forks and a modified rack on the back? Looks good :-bd

Re: Genesis Vagabond

I have a Genesis Vagabond. I've used various drop bars and it's now set up with Jones Loops. I liked it set up with salsa cowchippers when mixed terrain favoured road routes or easy off road and like it more with jones loops when routes favored technical off road routes. I'm leaning towards putting ...

If you mean the froe, it is ideal for making kindling.

... look at the Hultafors small trekking axe, I have the slightly Longer version and it's a lovely piece of kit, sharpens well and holds an edge for ages, They have enough bant to split logs etc....a cracking piece of Swedish steel. Re: The price of tools.

Another vote for hultafors axe from me. Reasonably priced and come in a variety of sizes. I'm a fan of the Bacho Laplander folding saw even for wet wood Ray. As an alternative you could Take a froe for splitting instead of an axe. Possibly lighter. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=froe&t=iphone&iax=images&...

These are some extra parts I don't need.

I am a fat bike convert these days. The Wednesday has 27.5 wheelset on it with 3.8 Minnion tires. Feels pretty invincible.

Re: O/T Trials bike curious.

My next bike will have a chunky bash guard on ISCG tabs and ssp but a long front centre and flat head angle, so definately more trail biking than trial biking. Yet, if I get the hang to do more hopping around on that bike, it'll transfer easy into my other trail bikes. Perhaps that's worth consider...
